I will have a look at error logs — it doesn’t go to the “lost connection” screen .. and it doesn’t really freeze up, the meters on it work fine – it’s just the select button doesn’t seem to select the channel (on the surface, or on the touch screen).

Sometimes my surface seems to lose synch with the touch screen… like pushing select on the channel strip doesn’t have an effect.

Lets say you have guitar left and guitar right — If guitar left steps on a +10db pedal or something, I wouldn’t want that to duck guitar right. I understand how you’re saying it shifts the image, but in practice it can be the opposite.

De-Linking will let the image “breathe” without panned sources stomping on each other. Check Dave Rat’s blog for more details — It’s just quite a bit more tedious to setup/configure/manage double the groups — but I suppose it is necessary here.

Ok, thanks — I figured as much.

I got the console out again today — upon further review, activating 48v on a channel causes the input meter to bounce up and down a bit with or without something attached. In addition, the pad does a similar thing — just a single bounce though. I can also hear a click when I engage the pad from the surface.

Anyone else able to replicate this?

I’d be surprised if this was a cabling issue. The reason it’s weird is that the Beta 91 in the kick was fine until the SM81 was replaced with a dynamic mic, then the issue moved to the Beta 91. It’s not like the 81 was off for a while, and then the 91 started acting up — the first kick drum hit of the set after replacing the 81 with a 57, it was screwed up.

Also, for those wondering the case for the mix rack was 10u. I was concerned about it coming in as 8u because then I couldn’t fit a UPS in it. I am blown away by these cases. The caster board is 1″ thick, and the case is made from either 1/2″ or 5/8″ ply. The casters frames are thick and very stout. When they said $2500 value … we all know it’s a marketing line. I expected cases that I would probably not use, but I have no doubts that it’s probably a real $1500 worth of stuff overall. I’d guess the mixrack case would be around $500, the surface case around $750, and then the cat5. Plus having it shipped would be a couple bills too.

I’m pretty sure this is possible and easy — give Dave a call. The training classes he does have all 7 surfaces and mixracks linked together.

Yeah — I’m a software developer by trade. An api would let us make an iPod touch app (or any other app) that would let you sit stage side and tweak monitor mixes or something.

Lots of things to think about though — primarily the authentication model. It would be nice to allow plugins, though.

If you still don’t get it (there have been a few good explanations) .. it’s kind of like a fader “in front” of all the faders you assign to it.

Yeah :( I was hoping to be able to add effects similar to the SC48.

    Thanks for your reply!

Well… I’d like both effects. Just wondering if there are any additional effects libraries?

Just for future reference… I figured this out. This thing is so configurable. Anyway.. just go to Routing, hit SEL on the channel, and it will say “Send on Rotaries”

Ok, the fader feedback was due to the channels being ganged and I was sliding both… “DUH”.

But I still don’t know why they are different (rotary vs. fader)

I just got mine Wednesday (T112/iDR-48). I used it at a show 1 hour after it showed up on a pallet.

First: Sounds AMAZING… really nicer than the other digi desks I’ve used. I don’t have any experience with an SC48 or PM5d.. LS9/StudioLive/01v/Some Roland thing.

Second: Very flexible — you can make it do just about anything. Downside, you have to tell it EXACTLY what to do.

I like it a lot.. don’t know what else to say. Couldn’t be happier so far.
