Could we have a official statement from A&H?

I would love updating to 1.7 to get the enhancements for IP8 fader bahaviour. But with the problems described above I won’t dare doing so…

    Thanks for the info.

Then updating is a no-go for me, as I have almost the same setup as you.
    Thanks for testing!

What if you unmount IP8s from Mixrack and remount them to surface. Do they keep their settings?

Just to confirm, did you download the ‘Understanding Multisurface’ document as well as the Firmware Reference Guide?

    Ah, there it is….
Link to the reference guide is in the software download section. And no clue in there for additional info. Maybe a hint for the stupid ones like me?

    thanks!

if you need two separeted networks and using the GigaACE port only for splitting

maybe something here gets lost in translation. If you talk of “networks” you a talking control networks?
Can you point me to a practical situation for this?

    regards

I can’t believe, that dLive filters should be worse then the ones in M32. At least this is not my experience at all.

I am with you, that 6-Band PEQs would be better then 4-Band, and that a RTA overlay would help in the process. These are 2 things on the wishlist for a lot of users.
I for myself use a RTA as a tool to help but trust my ears in the first place, without getting feedbacks. And this is nothing I could spend a lot of time on, as I work for bands with 7 wedge mixes from FoH and very short soundcheck times in general.

    Jay,
I have re-thought and tested your remarks on record-send mode.

As my recorded channels are not the same as the ones used for virtual soundcheck, this options seems not to work for me.
Unless I still have not understood the “concept”. What is likely as I still don’t get your sentence “If you have non-input channels, add them into the IO matrix after the VSC channels and record them (eg, L/R)”.
Where in what I/O Matrix are these channels to be added?

Solved with the help of A&H support.

Selectable devices (Mixrack) in Windows DAW Control or Mac TCP/IP Midi driver gave me the impression Midi will be sent by this device. But it is the Surface or Director sending Midi program changes.
In my case, with no Surface, you have to use “Custom” and connect to the computer running Director.

Where do you map outputs eg L/R or a record Matrix to the “record sends”?
Couldn’t find that and thought this was a limitation?

Did some tests using a Midi monitor today.

Firing C0,00 (or any other value) from a softkey within Director or from a IP8 button does send no Midi at all to the computer (same computer as the one running Director)
The transport keys from “utility/midi” in Director do send data, so the connection is there.

    Anyone any thoughts?

Have not tried the record send option yet. Thanks for the heads up.
But this means, I have to enable “record send” before I want to record? So one more button to think of?

4 things you have to do, to make this work:

    – patch outputs in dLive to the Dante card using direct outs or tie lines (there is more ways, but for multitrack recording those are the 2 to choose from)
    – start DVS with the minimum number of necessary channels
    – patch Dante channels from Dante card to DVS (computer) from within Dante Controller
    – patch inputs in your DAW

you have told us about 2 of these 4 points so far. Does Dante Controller show all network connections? Is the device info correct?
Dante is not just plug and play until it is setup correctly…

    regards
