As Steffen stated, MixRacks can not be connected together.
If you want to expande the available inputs/outputs for any given MixRack, use any of the “DX” boxes and connect them to the DX ports on the Mixrack. See “Everything I/O” at the A&H website. All inputs connected to a Mixrack (up to 128) can be routed to a slot-card in the Mixrack/Surface for recording, be it Dante or Waves. Keep in mind, that for recording with Dante, you would need a Dante PCI card in the computer for recording 128 channels, as Dante Virtual Soundcard can only handle up to 64 channels. Or use 2 computers with DVS and record a “synch” track to both (EG. Kick Drum).
No advice about Waves because of lacking knowledge 🥴2024/05/22 at 7:15 pm #122302Good workaround, Erik. Will try this 👍
2024/05/20 at 11:42 am #122219When there is a mixing console (monitor console) involved to set TB group levels, this is a good choice. Otherwise I never get the right level for all TB groups involved, as the send level can not be adjusted for different groups in dLive.
2024/05/14 at 4:20 pm #122092If this was requested 5 years ago, then obviously we need to bring it up again. I don’t think this is a difficult request to fulfill.
Just as a heads up, on how this seems to work at A&H. And this is an educated guess only, that derives from staff posts here in the forum and answers I received from support:
– dLive feature releases seems to fall into a 3 year timeframe currently.
– the feature set they want to achieve for the next release was set about 2,5 years ago. At least that I was told.
– A&H till today never talked publicly about which community requests made it into consideration at all, or might get totally ditched on the other hand. They say they note every request made from the community, though. So this means we have to wait till maybe this fall for which requests from pre 2022 have made it. And requests that haven’t made it or did rise in the meanwhile, we have to wait till the next release (then maybe fall 2027?) to see.
Or A&H finds another way to communicate with their community, which I would love to happen. Take that as a feature request!2024/05/14 at 9:27 am #122088The only solution I currently know of, is using Mixingstation instead of Director.
2024/04/14 at 3:38 pm #121337There is one misconception in your plan. If you want to use a laptop for control, GigaAce is not the way to go. The laptop has to be connected to the network connector on the MixRack.
I run a surface less setup containing at StageRack: CDM32 (with Dante), 19″ effect unit, WLAN access point and at FoH: Computer with touchscreen, 2 x IP8, various Dante devices for INs/OUTs/Headphone all connected over one CAT cable for more then 6 years now. Works like a charm.
2024/04/14 at 8:52 am #121324A dLive 2500 is just the “dumb” control surface for a DM or CDM MixRack. This alone will bring you nowhere…
2024/04/11 at 12:05 pm #121256Hi Keith, thanks again to being vocal to the community.
We have to swallow the companies decision to act as they do in that respect, although in my opinion there might be more to it as the arguments you give. Like marketing department and what I see as fear to weaken yourself compared to the competitors, when playing with open cards.
On the other hand, you saying you listen to every suggestion being made here, means not much to me (and I believe some big portion of the community) when the only “response” we get, is to see what new features are coming up about every 3 years for dLive. (at least that seems to be the interval to settle with). So there is suggestions older then 6 years without even knowing, if they are taken into consideration.
I never count on “maybe upcoming” features, when buying into things like mixing consoles. But as part of a community I would love to feel heard when it comes to evolve the tools of my choice!
Thanks for listening.
2024/04/08 at 10:31 am #121166Good it is working for you!
But I still don’t get where the problem was. What is “zoomed view” on a laptop in conjunction with mute buttons???2024/04/01 at 11:58 am #120981No idea, what is considered “normal” in your concert worlds….
2024/04/01 at 11:32 am #120978Sure, if you have 16 spare analog outs on the desk/stagebox and 16 separate recorded channels is enough, why not?
2024/03/20 at 9:18 am #120546Mighty – Valley People dyna-mite
Bus – SSL XLogic G series (at least this unit can be seen in an interview on the desk of Rob Clark, who is managing director and probably the compressor guru at A&H)2024/03/18 at 4:15 pm #120482So the screen flickering was the issue introduced with 1.99?
2024/03/11 at 9:24 am #120198In my world it’s almost 8 years, I have seen a R-series in the wild last time….
2024/03/06 at 7:09 pm #120068@brian, not sure, if that would make any difference. I have a surface-less setup, so there is no way to “power down”. It’s just a hard switch from the Mixrack and it always boots up in the last state. Although I have never tested a change and immediate power down. But to be honest, I don’t believe there is something like a timeframe…
