A small but very important point. 1.7 had issues when it came to the AB1608 stage boxes. The fix is in the new version 1.7.1. It’s on the A&H website.

    Lived through it…

THIS IS A RE-POST SEEMS LIKE IT SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THIS THREAD

Third song into the show last night our Qu-16 quit seeing the inputs from our dSnake. Outputs were OK.

Could not re-assign them (couldn’t see them), rebooting stage box, rebooting console, 3rd installation of new firmware, another stage box and even a hard power re-set of the console has not corrected it.

Had to re-set analog for rest of the shows. Thankfully we were in a club setting and the band could cover it acoustically. Vocals were all wireless at FOH.

    Any Ideas ????

Thanks for leading me to the link. Yes,an AB168. Had a lot in common with the posts. But experienced last night that the console was not receiving changes from the iPad and even changes I made at the console were getting lost ie. turn on channel phantom one minute and it’s not on the next. Same experience with EQ etc. Thankful that it all held for the show. Not a fun weekend. One more show to go.

    Here’s what I’ve learned so far…I think.

Scenes are created/named at the console.

You can save them to a USB drive. If you look at the USB file on a computer you cannot re-order them. You can rename them but the names will not transfer back to the Qu intact. They hold on to their scene number.

But, if you create on the console and save them to a drive you can put them back to the console scene list in any order you like but you can’t insert them. They overwrite whatever was in the scene number/field before. You can create new scenes at the end of the console list and save them to the drive to then put them where you want them. Yes…in this process you have to reload the scene list or part of it every time you want to reorder your show.

Haven’t tried this yet… but I noticed that when you are recalling scenes in order, the “next” “previous” function skips over any scene number/field that is empty. Might be a good strategy to leave some blanks between scenes when you first setup your show scenes so you could “insert” them to an empty space.

Still, this process is tedious at best and a ridiculous way to try to manage 100 scenes.

    Move & Insert Please !

I have tried to open the scene library from the USB drive and while I can look at them on my PC I can’t move them or rename them.

Any ideas? That would be useful.

    MacMusicGuy,

I’m in a high school setting also.

Last fall we purchased 2 Qu-32 and a Qu-16. 32 at each high school auditorium and the 16 in our portable rig.

My crew and I had looked at all of the less expensive digitals over the past year and landed on the Qu series. We are working to train more students on audio and lighting so I wanted consistency between auditoriums and something that students could get skills on in a short time. Decided on the Qu because:

32 channels and 32 faders… they don’t have to work in layers to do the basic work
Only 3 layers… channel, output and custom. Custom fader lets my adult engineers create a really friendly layer.
Touch screen and display that helps students operate and visualize EQ, Dynamics, etc.
18 channel recording to a USB drive and 32 channel in to a laptop right out of the box ! No additional cards to buy.
Plug and play digital snake and personal monitors.

We have large stage productions as well. If they need more than 32 channels we side car the Qu-16 and combine the necessary outputs. No, not Y cables !

We love the consoles. The only thing that I hope they fix is the inability to move or insert scenes. It is easy to select and re-call scenes with the soft keys. But, the inability to add/delete/arrange scene order is really a compromise for a show.

Good point Bob… and if I split the sends driving the monitors I could route to another mixer so I could solo/monitor without walking around the stage.

    Thanks to all who replied…

Clearly I was making some assumptions on what the Qu were capable of. The digital domain is not my strength.

The fact that I can’t do it isn’t a big deal for the way we operate now. And, we are really pleased with what the Qu’s have brought to our programs. Maybe an upgrade to GLD in the future!

    Mark…

We are getting our first hands on this week of our 2 – Qu-32s and Qu-16.

We attempted to program soft keys for scene store (key4), Re-call Go w/ auto increment(key 9), previous (key 5) and next (key 10)

We apply the settings but when we go to use Re-call Go key it re-sets all of the soft keys to their default settings.

    Any advice?

    Gus
