Sorry for digging this up again, but the ability to route FX 1-4 mixes out of the console (IO Port would be fine by me) would be amazing!

Ideally, we could also return signals to the FX Returns (no channel processing necessary)… maybe similar to the “mix external in” feature.

While I do agree, if you have a lot of critical signals passing through Soundgrid, it is a good idea to be prepared do disable the corresponding routing quickly (as with any outboard processing), I must say that Soundgrid processing has been extremely reliable for me over the last few years.

Also, 4 seconds seems rather long for switching to the redundant server.

It is true: you can only have 1 host application (I believe that’s the term) running on any Soundgrid network.
These apps are: Soundgrid Studio, Multirack Soundgrid or Superrack Soundgrid (possibly also LV-1).

However, you can absolutely run Multirack and playback simultaneously on the same computer (and even record the show if you really want to get into it).

For this to work, you will have to do all the routing in Multirack, which is a bit cumbersome, but once you have it set up, it will be fine.

I don’t have a computer running Multirack around at the moment, but I believe you need to check the “Soundgrid Inventory” page and make sure your SG driver shows up there and then route the channels you would like to use on the “Soundgrid Connections” Page.

Hey Robin, in my experience, Soundgrid has been absolutely plug & play with the SQ – as long as your SG network is set up correctly.

Maybe you could share some details on the set up and maybe a screenshot from the Superrack setup page.

I’d really like this feature when outboard plugin servers fail. In case a soundgrid system decides to stop working mid-show, it would be great if I could disable all inserts in one button push so the show can go on uninterrupted.

Cool, I have never used that feature.
I guess that was really useful on a PM5 or M7.

However, it doesn’t “redo the patch” – which I think is a good thing.

I like to keep the original patch, add any extra channels to the end and then (re)arrange the channel strips in a way that makes sense. But that’s just me.

but rearranging channels introduces a short break in audio

to my knowledge, it is not possible to change the order of input channels on these desks. In fact, that fixed architecture seems to be one of the advantages of the Yamaha boards.
However, QL, CL, Rivage and even LS9 have user layers which can be populated in any way the user choses.

I recognize the behaviour you are describing (inserting a channel causes a drop out) from the Avid Venue consoles. I believe on these desks, all following channels will indeed “move to the right” in this case. However, the patch does not change.
