Should be just right of the preamp section. See photo. If not that would be an interesting problem.

You are looking for enable ABCD input. Use the setup key in the preamp section I believe.

I have mixed with both. And I can say the Prime pre’s do sound amazing. The test I did had me swapping it with dlive pre’s (same as DX4816 from what I understand). All the musicians even commented they liked it better. Now all this is totally subjective.

I would say it’s only worth it if your entire signal chain will justify it. Putting that great signal into a bad PA or low end in-ears probably wont result in a transformative experience.

Mixing with them was much easier to me. Transients just hit that much better. Imaging is that much more clear. And that better input just made the whole chain feel like it had to work less. But no doubt that comes at a cost.

Only the DT168 would allow for direct Dante splitting. But A&H consoles have tie lines which can direct from preamp split. You could use direct outs as well to any output/card. The AR2412 is from the GLD system and runs at 48k which locks the slink connection to 48k for everything on the chain. Plus the GX has “better” pre amps.

You can upgrade to Deep package after the fact. And you want it 🙂

Dante cards are hard to get right now so order asap.

I like to use the scene function on this button to change layouts. Helpful when mixing monitors to bring up the aux master on the primary layer. Hopefully MCA function will come to Avantis like dlive some day. It’s a fast way to work.

You do need a GigaAce card for each desk. And one for the GX rack. A&H outlines this a bit in the Understanding Multi-Surface doc.

I think the major advantage to GigaAce would be to keep the system at 96k. Obviously you can do this via Dante but many devices are still limited to 48k on the network. This may not matter but if keeping the sample rate at 96k is important to you GigaAce makes it a bit easier. I also think GigaAce is just a bit more straightforward. Dante is super reliable when setup properly but GigaAce is kind of idiot proof.

And with 1.9 you can at least do gain sharing if you want. I don’t usually see any issue with one desk having preamp control and all other desks on trim. Really depends on application I guess.

Speaking as a dealer here. The installation of the equipment has nothing to do with the manufactures warranty. Unless said installation was somehow installed incorrectly. This isn’t really an issue with something like a soundboard. As it might be with something like a motorized screen. If you are able to install and iLive a dLive would not be any different

You will find this is an option. Hold the option button in the lower left of the screen when a EQ is viewable. You will see a gear. Options allows for output and input EQs to not have limits.

This post is hurting my brain. If you have a way to use some kind of imaging you absolutely should. Yes PA design obviously will determine how much you can use. But I guarantee you if you were to A-B a stereo sound to a mono one the vast majority of people (even laymen) will chose stereo. God made you with 2 ears for a reason…and it wasn’t for MONO!

Toe-Knee. You absolutely should make every effort to improve and make a polished sound for your church. I would avoid doing any hard panning. And walk your room during rehearsal to make sure the experience is not compromised too greatly. If your stereo system is designed well an effort would have been made to create a stereo image for the most amount of people. And I would argue that a small compromise in some far left/right areas is worth it for stereo in the majority of the center. Answering your original question… you will have to move some channels around to make room for stereo inputs. Like a keyboard or tracks. Keep in mind these are always odd/even pairs like 11/12, can’t do 12/13. So some re patching will need to be done.

Another thing to keep in mind is whether your mix is leaving the room. Most churches are still using the main LR mix to a live stream. And stereo in this mix is much more enjoyable for those at home.

It would be much cheeper to do this with any of the DX racks vs buying another Mix Rack. Total I/O count on dlive is really large.
