Hi. I’ve not done any stereo usb stick recording, only multitrack recording onto a SD card, which was fine. I’m assuming the stereo recording will come from the main left/right output bus so is it the channel levels were a bit low or the gains not quite high enough.

Also look at your recording sample rate settings, were they 48k or 96k and is your logic project running at the same sample rate.

Interested to hear more if you have found any issues.

Thanks Lee7, I’ve downloaded Mixing Station but have yet to have a look at it. Want to get round all the native app stuff first.

    Cheers

Shame there isn’t a fail over / override system where plugging/unplugging a Ethernet cable would automatically swap connection. I’m going to tinker wusing an external router then remove it to see if I can easily get to the built in Wi-Fi

I believe that A&H will restrict the functions to maintain some separation between the CQ and the more expensive but comparatively feature rich QU-SB. Only had my 20b for a couple of days and so far I’d be happy with a mute group or 2.

Other manufactures do offer some of the requested functions but at the cost of others features. The stereo inputs, built in recording, wifi and configurable foot switches put the CQ at the top of the list.

Mine will be close but not alsway in direct eye sight. if I give the singer the foot switch he’ll be oblivious (even more than usual)

I’ve also got my effx pedal and a custom 12 switch lighting control pedal – it’s a bit like riverdance as it is

Ordered a couple of double pole latching buttons to try

Just following up on this with a question. Just got my CQ20 today and have been delving into all the functions.

I set up a soft button for all effx mute but as I’m playing bass, I can’t always get to the button so want to dump a switch at the singers/or my feet. Ideally I’d like a latching switch with an LED so he/I know if the effx are on or off.

Going forward I may end up with a double switch so the main vocal mic can be muted during instrumental sections – again a status LED would be paramount.

Question is, as there’s no ‘feedback’ to a simple switch for the actual mixer status, would I simply need to toggle the foot switch and soft button until the status’s are the same?

Thanks for that. I’m not a CQ owner at the moment but am on the hunt for a 16ch rack mixer and currently looking at all the various product spec / pros and cons. Ventilation was a consideration as the rack ears appear to cover the ends.

Been a while but revisiting this, did you get it sorted.

I’ve just had the same problem using QU-16 and Logic. After several hours, found a comment in a YouTube video offering the solution.

For each daw controller, set the Fader bank offset for each controller.
    Controller 1 = 0
    Controller 2 = 8
    Controller 3 = 16
    Controller 4 = 24

Coloured bars under each track in mixer view represent the colour assigned to the daw controller.

So…..now I’m home, have done some rigorous testing and found..

Booted desk up and set all 16 inputs to the same gain with all gates, eq etc etc off.

With nothing connected Channel 15 is crackling and hissing when I pfl the channel. This goes quiet after a couple of minutes.

Connected a mic via xlr and ran across all channels, channel 15 is a lot quieter.

Plugged a guitar into the TRS input using a standard guitar lead, channel 15 is again quieter than all the others.

Connected 2 active DI box’s on channels 15 & 16 and enabled phantom power. Still getting phantom power but a small amount of crackle and hiss on channel 15. Connect my phone to said DIs using a stereo mini jack to stereo xlr lead and the noise goes but the level is a lot lower on Channel 15 than any other channel.

What’s more confusing, I’ve rebooted the desk a couple of times and the channel noise has gone but the level is still very low. If I connect a stereo mini jack to 2 x xlr the noise went too.

To compare, the gains are set to 27db across all channels but 15 has to be 41db to get the same level.

    Thanks.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, pfl levels were down on channel 15 in comparison to 16 when fully linked. From memory the difference in gain to get the levels the same was about 6/7 DB. Sounded fine with the gain boosted and I only tried the input with a feed from a laptop or phone . Went straight in with a mini jack to xlr to rule out a DI or cable fault.

Guess it’s time for a trip to my local trusty electrical engineer. As I said, the TRS input is fine just the xlr.

Mike, all of our band members sort their own monitor mixes (5 mixes) and some others i work with also like to have the option to do their own mixes too. I only give them send levels for their mix so they can’t interfere with anything else.

ideally id like to setup a default show but am a bit light on channels when we use a dep drummer (qu-16 electric vs acoustic kit). Some of the other shows i do have numerous acoustic instruments and vocals so i have a separate show for that.

Possibly theres a work around with scenes?
    Thanks

Thanks for the reply Keith. Unfortunately I do need completely different shows so will have to make sure I have time to setup the app each time.

    Cheers

    Dave
