something like this may solve the issue i am fairly confident. also if you use it on a laptop with no power adapter connected it shouldn’t make the noise either.

quickly reading this topic, it sounds like an earthing issue. has anyone experienced this issue on a laptop (not connected to a power source) just running on battery? i am hoping not. this used to happen to a few interfaces i had before switching to firewire as it has a grounding pin. solved all my issues.
