Hi Ray,
Ok. I’ve got “Follow fader, Follow mute” set up and everything seems to work fine. The FX unit’s giving me some nasty mids, but I can eq that out!
You mentioned “FX Source”. Can I explicitly mark it as “FX”? At the moment it’s just a direct out from IP1, and a stereo channel in on IP7/8.

I’d prefer this NOT to be an insert, as I’d like to record the unprocessed voice input (via Dante).
How do I get the direct out to be post fader? Should I assign it to a mono-group or an aux?
Thanks,
Rob
The Direct Output selection follows its global setting
configured in the MIXRACK SETUP / Mixer Pref / Direct Output
page. As an FX source this would typically be set to Follow Fader
and Follow Mute.Ray

Long is the longest route for your signal since it has to go through the ad/da process a few times and therefore will induce longer latency.
For external processing you could use iLive’s inserts function (press sel on a strip).

I see. The unit has digital IO. Would it be a good idea to try and get this working?

Originally posted by sraymondThe short returns are dedicated returns for the 8 onboard FX. So basically you can use the OB FX without eating any of the 64 channel strips available. You can return the OB FX through channel strips (long)if desired as well. That will give you the full processing capabilities of a channel strip. The short returns provide a parametric and Dynamic FX which gives some ducking or gating.
I don’t believe you can return any external inputs through the short returns.
Hope this helps!

Thanks Scott. Sounds like I’m doing something reasonable!
