Thanks – I’ll give that a try & see if it improves stability… ps are you a mate of Andy Walters? He mentioned a sound guy he knew who was an iLive devotee when I was talking to him about getting the system

Anyone had issues with running Editor under Windows 7 Professional? Just upgraded the OS on my laptops to this before a show on the weekend and since then I’ve had 3 lockups on Editor (freezes – have to force shutdown & them restart it)… Nothing else has been changed on the system & I’ve got minimal software installed other than the music & lighting stuff (brand new i7 laptops too, so they should be totally fine to cope)

Audinate folk, if you’re reading this and need a beta tester close to home I’m happy to guinea pig for you ;)

I think a lot of us are looking at Dante as a potential game changer for the system (providing very low latency access to outboard processing a la waves live or the like)… time will tell!

    [ “girlfriend-of-the-lead-guitarist-will-hear-the-solo-louder-than-everyone-else-switch”)
That would be the girlfriend matrix or iem send – everyone should carry a set of spare in ears for that purpose….

I’d imagine monitors being the only place you’d ever consider patching something like that (again, I’m talking about non-professionals getting the most use out of a feature like this)…still, for a church with a bunch of roving lavalier mikes…. as far as the audience is concerned bad sound is probably preferable to screaming feedback!

I’m with Richard on this one – I’ve never used them, but have always had some sort of RTA in the rack, now I have them on every output! Anyway, for an engineer mixing multiple sends of monitors on a loud stage from FOH, I don’t see any issue with it being “unprofessional” to use something like that (especially in say a festival situation where your inputs change constantly & correct gain structure is difficult to nail in the 10 minutes you’ve got to get a new band up & running). I’ll admit, I probably wouldn’t use it, but if there’s enough processing headroom for it I’d say its a viable addition, particularly for the church/school market (lets face it, anything that gets more of these systems out there is eventually beneficial to all of us “pro” users in lower costs products & greater network support).

I’ve heard those clicks, and assumed they were relays as I’ve mainly heard them while enabling/disabling phantom power – I assumed they were a protection circuit or some such thing.

I think this has been addressed before, but will the PL controllers work without a surface (laptop/editor control only)?

Hi Ray – I’ve tried to recreate the missing surface and if you can see one you should be able to see them all – all I can suggest is use the scroll bars at the right & bottom of the screen & see if you’ve minimised the window (within the Editor app I mean) & it is shrunk to an “off screen” area (i.e. it’s still open, just minimised to the background) or if you’ve got another window open over the top. Close every other open window (like all your Input/DCA/Mix screens etc) and see if it’s lurking underneath something else…
Can’t help you on the meter activity… not sure why you wouldn’t be seeing it if you’re actually controlling.

I bought my iDR32 on Friday (straight after we had a demo with the Australian distributor – I set it up at the local university & had a bunch of techs come in and we were all falling over ourselves to play on it!)…I’ve got it now & am really just waiting on the Dante to go fully operational – the distributor here said that A&H are still not providing exact costings but he’s seen the pre-release of it and it looks like the best thing available (as he said, they’re going to find it VERY hard to sell the Ethersound cards!)… he also saw the pre-release of the iPhone app & said that he figured anyone using an iLive that didn’t already have an iPhone would buy one when they saw the app!
    Happy days…

The magnifier function is a winner! Not perfect, but an acceptable workaround (especially with a stylus)! Great thinking…

Thanks so much for the input guys, it’s definitely not a dealbreaker on buying the system, but maybe if there’s enough of us saying this stuff then it’ll happen eventually!
Again, thanks to all the forum contributors to their wisdom & patience for a new arrival asking daft questions!!!
