We are using an XB-14-2 as our primary board for LPFM Broadcasting. I’m having some difficulty configuring the board to preview channels while on-air. In my previous experience with DJ mixers, there has always been a cue button to preview the other deck. The cue button on my xb-14-2 is currently configured to make a particular channel live.

Is there a way to preview a track on a channel that is not live to ensure that the appropriate track is selected and to help with setting levels? The only way I have been able to do this is by using the PFL button, but since the signal is pre-fader, it doesn’t help with setting levels. I’ve been racking my brain on this for weeks, and I’m hoping that someone from the forum can assist.

Thank you in advance for your assistance!

Trying to figure out how to do *exactly* this on my CQ20B.

The [Listen] functionality is not appropriate, since the channel has to be already unmuted to hear the channel on a [Listen].

Other, more complex schemes involving using a dedicated pair of Out channels runs into the issue that the send levels to the Out channels would not match those of MainLR.

    Any thoughts welcome!

OK, this was *not* correct! Engaging [Listen] on a Muted channel allows you to preview that channel. However, I can no longer hear the other tracks. What I really want is to preview a selected (muted) track as it will sit in the overall mix ..

And … the [Listen] function always monitors the track a 0dB … it does not follow the level of the MainLR fader.

This is not a CQ forum and therefore the following may be a bit off-topic:

Your CQ does not seem to me to be made for something like what you need.
To achieve what you want anyway, perhaps the following rather confusing workaround idea.
In my opinion, you could perhaps create a dedicated stereo out pair for each of the two decks/tracks and set the respective channel after comp and pre fader and set it to 0 dB.
It’s best to also switch on the “Follow Main LR Pan” function.
Instead of muting the channel to be listened to/leveled beforehand, you should always set its Main LR fader to inf!
Now you could pre-listen to your decks/tracks by listen the respective stereo outs (you could use 2 soft keys for this) and adjust the level of each one with the gain or trim so that the balance between the two (and possibly the Main LR) seems correct to you.

If you now push the corresponding Main LR fader back to the standard position (0 dB), it should be the right level.

Please check if it would work that way.
But maybe there are much simpler ways that I can’t think of right now.
