Harrison LiveTrax recording software

I’d like to start this thread for people to post about their experiences or questions with the Harrison LiveTrax recording software (https://store.harrisonaudio.com/all-products/livetrax). It seems to integrate with various A&H consoles via a MIDI connection which makes things like track names, scene changes, etc seamless. Just took a look at the page.

Initial thought: “wow a payware version of Waves Tracks Live” and yes I know it is not at all expensive 😉

Bit sad if my hunch is correct, that it is limited to 32 tracks?
(usual track count recorded for me is 54-64 tracks)

Tracks are unlimited and the max simultaneous I/O dictated by the audio interface.

First time using this I lost the IEM after engaging “Record Send”. Current set up, Avantis I/O Port 1 Dante Card sends to Solo then to IEM. I have not researched past this point yet.

Thinking through this I understand why I lost the IEM, the outputs are temporarily diverted. Would I need another card in the 2nd I/O port in order to continue sending channels to the Solo for IEM and be able to use Livetrax or is there a simpler way?

It depends how many channels of Dante you’re using. For example, if you have a Dante 64×64 card, but you only need to record 48 channels, make sure the Virtual Soundcheck patch is limited to channel 1-48. Use Dante I/O 49-64 on the same card for IEM and other sources or destinations.

One clever technique to maximize resources is to restrict the Virtual Soundcheck patch to the channels that are actually needed. It is efficient to use the remaining Dante I/O channels for sources such as IEMs!

OK, pulling my hair out on this one: I have LiveTrax running and have been able to successfully record from my Avantis and do Virtual Soundcheck back the other way. When I record and I change scenes on the mixer, LiveTrax clearly captures the scene change markers. However, when in virtual Soundcheck, the console does not respond to those markers to change the scenes on the mixer. I believe I have patched properly in the MIDI/Audio routing window but clearly, I am missing something. Anyone have an idea or have the same problem?

When I use my LiveTrax recordings to run Virtual Soundcheck on my Avantis, all the audio levels are hotter than they were during the recording. Can’t find anything to address this. Anyone have the same issue or have a solution to this?

It might be a problem with gain staging. Verify again the Virtual Soundcheck channels’ input gain settings, as they can differ from the live inputs. Check for any post-recording processing modifications as well.

Found the solution by asking the folks at Harrison. Their response:

There’s one step that needs to be done for scene control to be enabled in the other direction. Go to Window > MIDI Connections > LiveTrax Misc and enable Scene Out for MIDI Control 1.

I went to do that and it turns out that the “Scene Out” line was off the screen in the matrix. I noticed the scroll bar and brought it into view. Bar and background were dark and nearly the same color so I missed that. One click and I’m up and running now.
