Hi Martin,
This is a very nifty tool.
Out of interest where do the files upload too and what happens to them afterwards?
Cheers
2012/01/20 at 12:22 pm #30157Hi Guy,
I know you dont use the M-MMO & IDR Dout option anymore in preference for Madi & HDSPe but I was wondering if you could tell me when you were using it how it was connected.
I was of the understanding the with the M-MMO card you could directly connect the IDR D-out as long as you connect both the Audio & DR Link connections, but we recently received some advice that this was not possible and the only way we could do this was to connect an IDR-4 or IDR-8 and then connected the IDR-Dout to this.
I am trying to avoid having the need for additional PC’s and cards and converters and to keep it as simple as possible and maintain digial signals all the way through to our speaker management system and would appeciate some insight from someone who has physically done this.
Maybe one of the A & H Guys like Sam, Jeff or Nicola could also pass comment on at firware version 1.83 is it possible to connect the IDR-Dout directly to M-MMO or is the IDR-4 required.
It’s a lot of money to spend just to find out it won’t work and if the IDR-4 or 8 is required we will just find another way to do it or stick to analogue signals and the additional set of convertors.
Cheers
2012/01/15 at 12:43 am #29965I think what we are talking about here is something very similar to EAW’s “ELAN” which is an international listing of hire companies (who want to be listed) having EAW Line Array’s with the opportunity to list their other equipment.
The listing is run by EAW to avoid abuse but the members deal with each other.
In principal a great idea and probably not that much work on A & H’s part

Editor is useful more useful in fact and by far and away the best software of any manufacturer and I love it, we use to pre write shows for customers and use it to run our own gigs or do monitors but it is slightly less intuative than the touchscreen and not something I want to leave with an inexperienced operator
The reason we want to be able to supply an external screen is that our most common modus operandi is we set the set gig up ensure everthing is running through sound check and then leave and return later putting my laptop under my arm as I go leaving the operator to run the system from the touchscreen.
The touchscreen is marginally small and particularly hard to read in sunlight (and no angle adjustment on T series) and we would love to be able to leave a 17″ or similar touchscreen that mimics the screen on the surface allowing easier reading and operation.
Whilst its completey understandable that A & H can not support and write specific drivers for every single touchscreen on the market I would hope that working with only one or two manufacturers they could offer a pathway to having this available.
As to the cost I dont know what the price of the GVision were but given this would be specialist request I would suggest the price is the price and you either pay it or you don’t but it appears currently that there are no options at any price as the there are no drivers for the current models.

Interesting but not really what I want to be doing.
It would be good if someone from A & H could chime in and advise what has happened since 2009 and if they now have included drivers for any additional external touchscreens or at least the current GVison ones.

Any update on this and which large tough screens now have Linux drivers that work?

Thank you very much for your response. I had seen the IDR-DOUT mentioned but not seen any information on it a more thorough search of the A & H main web site brought it up.
This definitely seems the way to go as i’m trying to reduce the number of converters.
Thanks very much for your help

Your help is much appreciated.
Its probably not a big deal engineers are just going to have to get used to the sytem being 1 – 48 & then 65 – 112

2010/03/02 at 1:55 am #25240Thanks Sam,
Thats looking real good anjust in time as I’m about to jump in to digital.
Quote:[/Also note: Input DSP channels 1-64 have to be sourced from input sockets from the master mixrack. Input DSP channels 65- 128 have to be sourced from the Slave mixrack input sockets.

Does this mean if we are using 2 x IDR48 that we use input sockets 1 – 48 on master and input socket 1 on Slave becomes channel 65?Cheers
