I have done a number of tests with the I-Live over WiFi.
I found it operates considerably faster without encryption (WEP).You actually don’t need encryption as such, it doesn’t really matter if people snoop your traffic. All you need to do is have security so only known devices can connect.
The best way of doing this is to enable MAC address restrictions on the WiFi router so that only certain MAC addresses can connect. This gives you speed and security.

Technically I think it should be possible to run the Editor on the iPhone inside the java environment as I believe the editor is just a Java app.
However, I don’t have an iPhone to try it on and..
I’m guessing there is probably a minimum screen resolution that the Editor software needs to run and i’m betting its way above that of an iPhone.Personally, I don’t think its is practical.
The next best is to go and pick up a cheap Asus netbook which is tiny and run it on that over WiFi. You can walk around punter land and EQ from that and it will be much quicker and way more reliable.2009/05/06 at 4:43 am #24301Or a ‘print show’ option that printed it all out nicely formatted.
Input Lists
Output Lists
Group Assignments
Aux Assignments (pre and post and points)
Strip LayoutsYou could then print out your entire show setup and stick it on walls and racks so everyone on the crew knows what is what.
2009/05/04 at 4:17 am #24298I have asked this question before and been told that its coming in a future release.
At the moment you can only use a 112 out front and a laptop on stage for monitors.
If I was you, I’d buy the 112 and rack now and then when they release the firmware to be able to do it, add the 80 in on the stage (thats my plan).
A laptop is a surprisingly workable solution as the editor software is so good and quick to use.

yes please, this would be so fantastic.
At the moment I have to retype it in excel, or type it in excel and import it into the editor.2009/04/17 at 4:04 am #24285ooops all right.
The other thing you can do which doesn’t cause this is gang the two faders together and then just put one on the surface. Then anything you change on the left channel will also change on the right.Cheers
Toby2009/03/16 at 4:12 am #242501jellomello, I think you should have bought an I-Live not a T-Series. A lot of your requests are for features that are in the I-Live and are what makes it a more expensive / flexible option.
I would vote for leaving the channel naming the same as the I-Live and as Carey says, it makes it portable between the big rack and the T-Series.
One thought is to potentially go down a ‘modular’ software architecture approach and opening up the system to allow 3rd party apps and plugins. Then if someone wants something wacky, they can write their own module to do that function.
You could have a ‘Certified A&H application’ program so that 3rd party developers could have their apps tested and evaluated by A&H (for a fee) and then the user community would know it was reliable.
I see a huge potential for this on effects front, perhaps even specialist EQ plugins etc. Or new control protocols. For example, if A&H released a control API then anyone could implement their own control protocol to take advantage of this.
hmmm, the possibilities are endless
2009/03/02 at 9:45 pm #24215ok, thanks for the response. we will give it a try but I suspect there is NAT on at least one side. Will report back on how it goes but if it doesn’t work we will just put in a private link which is a pain but not the end of the world.
NAT support could be very useful in the long run.

Do you think it would be possible to setup an I-Live users mailing list. I downloaded and installed the 1.42 firmware but skipped the registration part []
It would be great if everyone could be notified of new firmware or problems like this.
I know there is a distributor list, but it usually takes a few days for the info to get passed down to owners and users.

http://www.np.co.nz2009/02/26 at 10:41 pm #24199Hi
Has the 1.41 firmware been pulled.
I notice its not on the download page any more?
I have actually upgraded my I-Live, wondering if there is anything I should know about before we do our shows this weekend.Should I downgrade?
Regards
Toby2009/02/25 at 10:47 pm #24197My only comment would be that Telnet is fairly old school now.
Perhaps some form of API would be more appropriate these days?I would vote for it being compatible with the PL designer before implementing something like telnet.
2009/02/19 at 8:30 pm #24184Its just like christmas.
2009/02/19 at 2:46 am #24181Does that mean we can have the 1.4 firmware now?
Pretty please
2009/01/08 at 11:30 pm #24161Yeah, I tried that one but it didn’t seem to save it.
I will try again on the next gig and see if it works.2008/09/24 at 12:29 am #24071Being able to use system manager online without a surface.
That would be great for the corporate stuff where a laptop is all you need. -
