    We do this using a matrix and route the matrix to two local XLR outputs, then use a cable which is dual XLR to 3.5mm jack into the ATEM. This works well for our setup.
    The ATEM can switch the audio inputs between mic and line level – have you configured yours to be line as this is what you will need? I’m not near ours so can’t check the exact setting but I believe it should be in the audio settings on the control software. I found the attached image online which looks about right from what I can remember.

    I’ve set up multiple groups and a matrix for our live stream to do just this. I find it works pretty well and allows compression to be added in stages exactly as others have suggested. I just use the built-in compressors and am happy with the results. I’m not near the desk to give specifics but I did a reasonable walk-through of the setup for our volunteers which you might find helpful: https://youtu.be/WsTh9L3-vZ0

    You’ll need to format the USB drive in the desk first, then you should be able to copy the files/folders into the corresponding locations on the drive. I do this regularly to work at home on my laptop then transfer the files to my desk.

    You can assign an automatic scene recall on user login, to give them a default scene to work with. It’s also possible to assign specific scene recall to soft keys – I have our desk set up with three standard starter scenes on soft keys, but most users cannot access those through the scene manager page, so they can’t overwrite them.

    +1, sounds like a good idea

    That’s how I have set it up in our church, with restrictions on scene ranges. I have also put a couple of specific scene recalls onto soft keys to allow someone to load a predefined ‘default’ if needed, but there’s no way for them to overwrite those.

    We have a setup a little like this, and I’ve handled it by restricting user access to those scenes and instead using soft keys to recall. The soft key approach still allows scene recall but when they go to scene management they aren’t available to be updated. In one case we also recall a scene on user login to make it even simpler.

    I do this fairly regularly using Tie Lines to multi-track record into Reaper. I’ve made a series of training videos for my volunteers including one on this topic but using Tracks Live on the PC, but the principles are the same and the desk routing is done the same way. You can find it here: https://youtu.be/hlH2Zrn9wfE

    I’m definitely no expert, but I have made some simple training videos for my volunteer team at church and one of the more recent ones I did was on this topic. You may find it helpful: https://youtu.be/j7ulEmgx6hI

    Yes, that was it. I just spotted it myself during our recording session today!
    Somehow I had missed that one…

    I’ll also try your suggestion of adding a little reverb as an insert to the stream mix and see how that goes.

    Many thanks!

    @mike C

    Yes, those are on my list to get at some point. Just need to persuade others that we need it…

    @volounteer

    Agree on the separate processing, and it’s really useful getting some time to try these things out before we actually do start to do a stream for real 🙂

    @volounteer

    It is about having a bit more control over the processing going to the live stream compared to in the building, how much I’m not sure yet. So in part it is definitely trying out the art of the possible, and seeing what the desk can do too 🙂
    I already add more compression on our recorded band when I edit them now, as the sound is so different on small speakers compared to in the church. The FX is a minor point really, but it was troubling me the way it was behaving. It should go to L/R, and to the stream, I would like to be able to separately decide how much goes to each, that was the idea.

    @volounteer

    You may be right, it could be overkill, but in part I’m finding out what the possible options are and was inspired by the recent A&H broadcast interview to try something a little different.

    Thanks,

    Hi Keith,

    Thanks!

    Yes, sorry, I wasn’t clear on the scene, I knew I had forgotten something. It’s actually the loaded scene, but is 23) Rec Band 1 31/10.
    It might make more sense then!
    In that scene I think I’ve been a lot more selective with my assigns.

    And, yes, I was PAFL’ing the StrVox group (as I called it on the scene), and that’s what I was finding odd, hearing reverb on that group which shouldn’t have been getting any of the reverb.

    Thanks,

    Mark
