I’m planning with our SQ, to have a ar84 sitting permanently on a rolling drum riser…

Sometimes the kit (and thus expander) might not be needed at all, or plugged in and out during changeovers, then needed for a performance, not needed, the needed again all on the same show.

I plan to have the drum mic channels, permanently patched to the expander. As well as some AUX outputs also mirrored there in case we need some sends there.
I want the drums always patched to the expander regardless, and, on the strips always, even if the expander isnt there….

Is this going to cause issues?

    Yes this happens …

The GLD, (the last golden console) muted its outputs on the surface. No transients.
Used a QU one day, bang…
Discovered that the stage box (ar2412) also doesnt do this…
So i deliberatly patch all my outputs to speakers through the stage boxes.
At a festival once, packing up, old mate trying to help unplugs my FOH power feed so he can roll the lead up…. Thank goodness for the GLD!

@allen and heath… Its gotta be a simple fix….please just fix it!

Yeah power down the right way they say….
They havent worked with students, volunteers etc.

    +1

I sometimes have times when a musician wants to move or, as they are now part of a bigger band, needs to move to make room.
often as that input is impractical to move etc.
Having the option to “move” the entirety of that input to another patching would be amazing OR
Having the library being able to load a COMPLETE set of channels, say for example, a drum kit.
I turn up to the venue and they want the drum kit in ch18-24 instead of ch1-6, i simply select the drum kit channels or the presets from the library as a 6 channel bank and presto, my kit is now moved.

Yes, i’m aware i could just patch 1-6 from the stagebox into channels 18-24, but this won’t copy my preamps….

Also +1 for being able to set a default gain in inputs.

    +1,

As mentioned in another posting, these SQ consoles are priced much like that of the GLD and you have to buy the FX!
Next time, ditch the full inputs on the surface, people can buy a QU if they want no stage box.

I’d agree that with the GLD phased out, there is ONLY the Avantis and dLive consoles available, that have the routing flexibility to do this. Adding to this, the GLD was RRP $9,934.82 in 2013 (very comparable price to the SQ) but came including all the FX etc)
I too, feel like there is a gap in the range… but A&H probably like it this way so people buy the avantis or dLive at nearly $20k!!!
It feels like a cash grab…

Anyway, enough rambling, a solution to this problem, could be, to simply use a pair of groups or matrices (1x mono & 1x LR) for your LCR setup, yes you will have to unassign or manually some channels from the Centre and visa versa, but this
