Which SE Electronics Ribbon Mic can you recommend for E-guitar Amp mic?

Totally agree Mfk0815, my main question was if and how the SQ handle Ribbon mic’s. (in a live setting)

Well i learned that SQ can handle this, perhabs even better in combination with a inline db booster.

Second is the discussion how to improve my E-guitar live sound. Personal i have seen a lot of “mic shoot outs” and i am keep on stick hanging at the R121. (and his cheaper brother R-10) I am also taking your thoughts serious about “the practical” problems this may give on stage, like bleed caused by the figure eight.
I am also still looking at other options like the AKG C414 and the RE20. (like Hugh suggest) Other mic suggestions are still welcome.

    Thank all for help.

it’s starting to become a bit of a phychelogical conversation, but to sum it up. I would like to be distinctive from the other FOH sound providers. for me it is purely hobby-based and so I will not earn extra money with it. So the conclusion will be that I mainly do it for myself that I want to make the FOH sound as beautiful as possible and also perhaps a few critical listeners in the audience …

Thanks all for your comments and thoughts! I problably wait for a “good deal” somewhere and go for it!

Some background information perhaps is that last weeks i did several livestreams of acoustic bands. (without live audience) Therefor the leadsingers were singing through a Neumann kms105 and the acoustic guitars were picked up by Neumann 184’s. The overal audio improvement was so big that I began to think about my “E-guitar” sound. So in my opinion mic’s can make an big audible difference for the audience listening.
(my FOH system are Meyer Sound UPA’s and HP600 and should not be a problem)

Hi both thanks for your replies. Band like Maroon 5 is also using ribbon on E-guitar.
But of course, the question of “devine improvement” is a good one. But i find it very difficult to explain. I am sometimes just not happy about my guitar sound. I need a more nicer/complete guitar sound, not screaming to the ear, but present in the mix. If i am looking around the internet i come often to the R-121, but this one is out of my financial range. Thats the reason i am looking at the R-10.
A seperate extra pre amp is not my goal, more stuff and more money. (inline db booster is do-able)
Maybe they are Some SQ users who allready have experience in this discusion?

    Thanks!

Regarding “adding more snare in mix 1” Are you sure you have all your inputs also assigned to the mix? (and not only to the group?)

I have had a simulair issue, no signal in group 1. Hope this will be solved soon…

I have had a simulair issue with input 2. The signalflow stopt after the gate.
When i recalled another scene input 2 was working, recalling the previous, it was dead again.
I solved this by recalling the “good scene” and save it “over the bad one” then did some adjustments regarding the scene settings fit again.

Hi Airickless, thanks for your answer. I understand when staying with the AR2412 I am fine. But I thinking about “updating to 96kHz” by buying 2 DX168.

Does anybody from Allen & Heath have some advice?

Is it another option to use the digital AES output from the SQ5 to feed the Dynacord 260. (digitally this DSP260 can handle 96kHz inputs) And if Yess, which cable (something like 50 meters) I have to use to make a good/stabile connection from SQ5 AES to DSP260 AES?

I hope someone can help me, many thanks in advance..

    Greetings, David

Thanks Keith en Lightingman, I will go experimenting then..

But, like Keith said, if there are more examples from other users, please let me know!

I am most interested in “voice-presets” and I was wondering if there are any experiences using this with a drum-element. (such as snare, for more crack?)

    Greetings David
