    I agree it’s not that worthy to invest AB168 with the QU. The reasons are as follows:

    1: AB168 is much more expensive than the traditional analog snake. It’s half of the QU-16 mixer.
    2: With the digital stage box, you don’t gain too much. You still have to carry a big metal box with cat5 cable, that may be even more stuff to carry than the analog snake.
    3: It’s a waste of the on-board I/O, with AB168 stage box, it’s a double investment on preamps.

    That’s why I’d rather buy a good analog snake in this case.

    Well, my request here will solve the problem: https://community.allen-heath.com/forums/topic/personal-mix-with-a-simple-iphone-app

    Just a simple iPhone app with access control should be enough. No need to have anything other than volume faders.

    Great. Now it’s time to work on multiple remote control connections and a simple iPhone mix app (or make it possible that we can make it)!

    an iPhone app could be the solution.

    @lesouvage

    I think what is happening here is QU-16 is trying load the recording session back for playback right after you stop recording. That could take a long time because it’s very long. I would recommend to record in small session or leave a small multi-track session on it before recording the longer one. So it won’t try to load it back.

    The limitation is the disk writing speed, not the usb bus speed.

    @lesouvage

    As suggested by other user in this thread, use San disk extreme usb 3.0

    I have about ten with no problem but I found some of my 16bit wave files cut off 3 seconds earlier before the ending when playing.

    I wish it won’t record any channels that are turned off (X) in the USB output patch. It’s such a waste of space and cycles to record the channels that don’t have any signal coming.

    Don’t you have to arm again in that case?

    Can you really pause the recording after it started? The play/pause button looks disabled for me.

    Sounds like SanDisk USB 3.0 is the way to go. Ordered! How long is the 64G version able to record?

    I was thinking about the same thing. The multi-track recording is great, but copy files and mix on computer and then bounce is a lot of back and forth. Now I wish there are two Qu-drive ports?

    Yes, I am talking about QU-Drive record and play. Should use one button for both play and stop since there are only 4 soft keys on QU-16.
