Glad to hear you’re up and running.[:)]

Anything can have a problem. It’s what happens next that determines the value of the product.

    OK
    I’ll play
and I’m ready for the flames coming at this reply from all corners of the globe.

    1. It’s likely going back for qualified service.
    2. There is probably some secret handshake to boot these things into a diagnostic mode (something like apply the power while holding these three keys down) if you can get somebody authorized to walk you through this it would be very wise to do that before you try any of the gonzo stuff listed below.
    3. If you can’t get anywhere you could try this stuff before you ship it.

    A. boot the unit with a previous version of the firmware on
    a usb drive.

    or
    b. soon after turning the unit on pull the mains power cord.
    then
    c. soon after turning on the unit pull the mains power cord then plug it back in before the caps drop the power supply all the way down.
The general idea is to disrupt the current boot process in a way that causes the unit to reload the most basic instruction set and more completely rebuild it’s software during boot up.

Another basic idea is it’s FUBAR anyway so let’s bang it around a little before we ship it. In that regard I like the 3 inch free drop to reseat all the edge connectors etc without taking the unit apart. I refer to this last technique as offering it “a few taps of encouragement”. This will also work with people sometimes but it can result in arrest and imprisonment.

If this doesn’t make the mixer rethink it’s position on not booting see item 1.

Best of luck with your unit.

    Yes, I had it happen. I don’t think it’s a bug.

It’s an incorrect FX assignment. In my case it was caused by trying to return the FX to an aux or something (I forget exactly what). The FX strip needed to go to it’s return rather than where it was pointed. When the FX config was corrected the strip returned to visibility.
The disappearance was the board’s way of not approving the config.

    Best of Luck

    Sunam-

To answer your original question I would:

    • Back up to show files at the end of each session
    • not use a USB drive with bloatware or other non
A&H files on it (except sound files)
    • not hot swap usb drives (unless you have to)if you do, wait 30 seconds after a save or an audio file stop

I think having “pen pals” of other sound guys around the world is very cool.[:)]

Seems like, although it’s rare, it’s still an issue.

More than 125 hours of use with various of the software versions since any crash (on v1.02) ar 2412, ar 84 / various usb sticks. No dante card.

A knowledgeable person told me that editor software is on the way. Maybe by Infocom which is June 12-18th.

This person is not a A&H employee but he is usually right about stuff.

    So I’ll STFU till then.[:D]

This is a request. A request is not a complaint or a command. I think it is quite a reasonable request.

The comments above are largely from users, great, I’m a user too.

I’m also a vendor. Having editor software would enable me to better support my customers. I could load their files and look at them while I’m at another venue or at my desk or at a Bob Evans Restaurant and help them get where they want to go or help them trouble shoot issues specific to the show/venue.

It’s another tool that competitive lines have that I’d like to have to work with. I don’t care if A&H promised it or not. We (A&H and Me) need it. It obviously costs something to write one. I’m saying it also costs something to not have one.

    Mix analog.

    Let’s see.

The first mixer I was paid to operate didn’t have panpots. It had a per input, channel assign, three position switch located just above the volume knobs. EQs were outboard units that were 600 ohm transformer isolated and connected by barrier strips. The closest thing to a comp was called a leveling amplifier. Reverb was down the hall and around the corner from storage and you had to go there once and a while to reset the damper if someone ran the servo too long and caused an over excursion of the damper trolley. Stage monitors were called fold back.

    So yes,I’ve mixed analog before

I still want an editor, soon please.

Update 1.11 erased the show files.
update 1.2 left the show files intact.

This is an observation not an accusation.

The firmware update took 20 minutes.
There were no problems or hiccups.
    Works as described.

    Ipad/wifi works as described.

    Thanks to all at A&H!

Discovering new types of feedback is the sound guy’s No 1 job. It takes precedence over all other jobs even turd polishing and creating tripping hazards for performers and audience members.
    But seriously….

Assuming the mics aren’t in front of the speakers……… (If they are you’re boned- re install the system correctly)

If you have an RTA use it to help you find the problem frequencies.

    If you don’t try this:

High pass the mics at 75.

Start by creating two notches of 9 db. One at 350 w/ a Q of 7, one at 530 same Q.
Sweep them up and down until you located the problems.

Also compress them at 3.5 to 1 with 3 db makeup gain. Set the threshold so it knocks the tops off the more energetic speech.
