Pardon my ignorance, this question is purely from a visual aesthetics perspective. When rack mounted, the CQ-20B has all the inputs/outputs in the front. I have other systems like IEMs and wireless mic systems also rack mounted on the same rack, but those I/O are at the rear of the unit, so it looks like I will have an awkward cable running from the back to the front. Am I thinking about this wrong? Can someone who has rack mounted their unit with other units share how it looks? I couldn’t find an image online…

There are two considerations to weigh and evaluate with all A/V gear: TRANSPORTATION & FACILITATING FUNCTIONAL USE. It is a bad idea to make operational decisions with out carefully weighing both travel and best in use practices. To this end IMO rack mounting a CQ20b or any small desk with or without faders is a bad idea. The OP has identified an obvious disadvantage but when you factor in heat disapation leaving any CQ or SQ open for full air movement and unrestricted I/Os is a no brainer. I have a Gator case (GU-1813-06-WPDV) that houses my CQ20b along with an I-Pad and the I-Pod I use for walk in music along with all the necessary cords. I have a larger Gator suitcase for my SQ5. My DX 32 (loaded with 8 PRIME I/Os and 16 D-Live pres) is in a large SKB Shock case and the SQ5 has a plywood template to secure it on top of a rolling 8 space SKB case housing a power conditioner/sequencer, a Masterlink and a Glyph external HD.
I bought the 20b for my solo and small Bluegrass gigs and the travel case makes a perfect 8 inch lift off of the stage floor for safe operational purposes. It is amazing how many small gigs are available that need minimal but clearly audible SR. My CQ20b, KV2 EX10s and tube mics are an easy and profitable magic combination that I highly recommend.

If something like this would really bothers you, maybe you could look for a suitable rack with rack rails at the front and back, or have one built for you.
Then you can mount your devices from both sides, so that all the connection sockets (and patch cables) are on one side.
