I have seen posts on this subject but nothing lately.
Is there still no easy way to re-order the Scenes list on my SQ6?
How about a “hard” way?

Now, I found it difficult to know which one I had put on the softkey. And, when tweaking, which one do I tweak and save.

1. Bring up a copy of the show on your computer in MixPad in OFFLINE mode (actual computer, not on the mixer or an iPad).
2. Look in MixPad at the show listing and see what number the show is assigned (it’s in the upper-right corner — something like SHOW0001) and where MixPad is storing its files (at the bottom of the Shows screen). Make a note of both of these. Also, look in the Scenes panel and figure out the scene number for the scenes you want to move around.
3. Close MixPad completely, go to the directory from MixPad where the shows are stored, and you’ll see a directory layout that looks like this:
SHOWS
– SHOW0000
– SHOW0001
(etc.)
4. Open up the folder for the show you want to edit, and you’ll see a bunch of files named SCENE000.DAT, SCENE001.DAT, etc.
5. The numbers on those scenes are what the mixer uses to order them. So if you need to create a gap between scene 34 and scene 35, find SCENE033.DAT in the list and rename it to SCENE035.DAT. (See below for explanation of the numbering)
6. Bring up MixPad again, select the show in the Shows list, and hit Recall. Voila! Gap created: you should now see a blank scene 35 between scenes 34 and 36.Couple important notes about doing this:
* Numbering will be off-by-one from files to the mixer list: the files start at SCENE000.DAT, but the mixer translates SCENE000 into Scene 1 on the display. So if you’re looking to move something from scene 47 to scene 100, you need to rename the SCENE046.DAT file to SCENE099.DAT to make the numbers work correctly.
* Scenes can’t have duplicate numbers! So if you have a bunch of scenes in a row, you’ll need to renumber all of them ahead one number in order to make your gap — scene 40 becomes 41, 39 becomes 40, 38 becomes 39, etc. To combat this, when I’m setting up a show I always leave some blank scenes here and there in order to make some room for future edits. When you’re running the show, pressing SCENE RECALL GO on the mixer will skip over blank scenes, so having the gaps there doesn’t affect the flow of the show.
* I am totally not responsible for any mixer damage, heartbreak, gnashing of teeth, explosions, or economic maladies that may arise from the use of these instructions — it’s worked for me thus far, and that’s all I can say. If there’s folks from A&H that want to chime in with any important caveats about doing this, feel free! 😀
