Is it possible to use, for instance, one SQ-5 as an extension to the control surface of another SQ-5? How about the IO adding? (get 32 inputs by using both)

No, that is not possible. You can send audio from one to another desk with an additional SLink Card, but “remote controlling” one unit from another is not implemented.

@tobi is correct, you would be making a system to system connection, so there are lots of routing options for audio but this would still be two separate consoles.

What would be possible is to connect two SQ’s via SLink/Dante/Waves/MADI and make use of all the input and output sockets you have available.
So one SQ-5 could send all the audio straight from it’s preamps via tie lines to the other SQ-5, which could then process all 32 inputs (and still have 16 input processing channels left).
Just note that preamp control is only available from the system the preamp is connected to, except in the case of Dante and DT expanders.

With the addition of a computer or BomeBox in between to handle all the messaging, you could also use the MIDI output from one console to control another.
This would allow for level, pan/balance, assignment and mute controls only (no processing control).

    Cheers,
    Keith.

What about the extension of the possible midi commands for the SQ?
