Last Friday I powered up my Avantis and GX4816 connected via cat cable using the slink ports. This setup has served me very well since the beginning of the year. This time, however, after about two seconds of boot time, the GX4816 began flashing all three Link/Err indicators and did not pass audio. After a few times turning it on and off and making no progress, I took a peek at the Avantis. The Avantis seemed to think it was updating the GX’s firmware… But nothing had been updated on the Avantis… and I don’t think there IS a firmware update for the GX? I don’t think? Another powercycle on everything and I had a show again, but it was really worrisome there for a second. Has anyone else encountered this state with a GX that is less than a year old (or really of any age)? Is there actually a GX firmware update that I should have taken care of at some point? Would love to hear from anyone else that has found their GX just sitting there, flashing lights at them.

    Thanks!

The stage boxes will automatically sync with the console to ensure they are running the same firmware. It’s possible that someone did upgrade the firmware on the Avantis (1.31 was just released), or it’s possible that the GX4816 was connected to another system that had a different firmware version. It would have synced to that other console’s firmware version, and then it would have had to resync to the Avantis firmware when it was reconnected to that system.

Long story short, this is very normal behavior and it’s nothing to worry about.

Thanks so much for the reassurance. The Avantis and GX are my personal rig and no other gear is ever attached nor are other engineers taking it out… but I’ll try to just chill and not worry that one day I’m going to roll it out of the trailer and not have a show 🙂 haha

    Thanks again for the assurance!
