I am considering selling my Qu16 mixer in favor of the CQ18T. Most important reasons:
– don’t use the Qu as an engineer=, I don’t do (a lot of) engineering gigs, but mainly as an in ear mixer for my band and as an audio interface in my studio
– Can’t get used to QuPad app
– heavy and bigreasons for the QC:
– autogain and auto anti feedback,
– better app,
– still able to control on the device (I had a QuSB before the Qu16 but I did not like the fact that I couldn’t control it without a wifi router on and my ipad on
– wifi on boardSo there are chances I will be missing the faders. Any things I should consider? thanks for your thoughts…

Autogain and autofeedback work really well!
I also was concerned about faderless device, but I’m not missing them (I use the knob on the unit or the slide in the app).2024/11/06 at 3:34 pm #127109HughParticipantUnless you have developed a dependable “Mixing on glass” working skill set, a move from QU16 to an SQ5 will probably be a much better & more linear upgrade. The CQ line does not offer faders and consiquently relies on WIFI for working controls. Take any of the CQs & also a SQ5 loaner from your dealer and try them out before you buy anything!!!

I mainly use the QU for any PA gigs I get hired for and the CQ for the band I play in, although I did use the latter for a multi act music weekend last month. It worked well, but not as smooth as the QU. The ability to “SAFE” channels was a big deal.
The app on the QU is far superior to the CQ, it is better laid out and is far more intuitive to use. Creates a better faster workflow, the CQ is a very clunky workflow with too many button presses to get to where you want/need to be. I do like the FBA, although, it wasn’t something I longed for when using the QU, in fact, if you’re in the heat of battle working monitors from side of stage, the ability to go to a GEQ and/or PEQ rather than waiting for the FBA to find the frequency can be problematic. It isn’t advisable to set the FBA to “Live” and let it do its own thing, it will just end up destroying the monitor mixes for the musicians. Auto gain is handy for initial setup, but then I take over and make more finer adjustments manually, it can be a little too conservative, especially on vocals.
If it was me, I would probably go for the SQ5 as that will give you far more expandability along with more stereo aux’s for the use of IEM’s etc.
