Adding Outputs to IDR16

Hi – I have an IDR16 which has a Dante / Joeco BBR Dante recorder within it. (I am considering selling see other forum post).

However I need to add outputs to the system. If I want to retain the Dante element my only option seems to be an xDR-16. But it seems a waste to add 16 extra inputs when all I need is outputs.

Are there any Dante “breakout boxes” that people can recommend to enable this? I would need 8 extra outputs.

If I sold the Dante element of this system I presume I could add an MMO Card and go down the expander route.

Hey Ric,
you might consider the Yamaha Ro8-D Dante Output Box. It was recent released to go with the CL3/5 line of consoles.
I haven’t personally used one (in and ilive rig) but have a friend that just got one to try out. If his works the way we hope it will then this is what i will be picking up to go with my Dante based iLive rig.

Ah-hem Beh….ger x32 rack with Dante card fitted? Will give you 8 xlr outs plus trs outs etc plus a whole spare mixer! AES50 ports as well

What do you need your outputs to feed? There are some speaker processors and amplifiers with Dante INPUTS so that might also be an option.

I have a Yamaha Ro8-D and use it regularly for this exact reason, I can confirm it works most of the time. the issue I have is now and again, on start up it doesn’t subscribe properly to all of it’s Dante network outputs, and I have to restart it. it’s 1 or 2 out of every 30 shows though, so not a big deal, and I think it’s related to the start up sequence, I just haven’t really messed with it.

it has never failed during a show or rehearsal, just on initial start up.

Hi all – thanks for the information. I have ended up selling the Dante card and recorder so am now looking at either…

1) xDR-16 with MMO Out Card circa £2400
2) IDR-OUT with MMO Card circa £1200

I do not need any extra inputs (although changing stage placement of the 16 inputs I use would be useful)

So my question is does anyone have any experience of these options and the benefits of each (cost aside!)

Is option 2 transparent to the iLive i.e. do I just get to see these outputs within Editor and can I then see those outputs in the iPad app… I do all the show mixing from iPad in the venues we play at. I could not find any documentation on using IDR-OUT with an iLive but understand it is a supported solution.
