Just got home from Plasa, the iPad app was in attendance and its awesome!!
There is access to all channels, FX, DCA etc. RTA is on there, there is two sections (the iPad is in landscape) the top can be auxes etc with a mix button, while the bottom shows inputs etc that are effected by pressing the mix button!
Apparently it will not be free but it also won’t be too expensive and should be out in a month or two…

Unfortunately I didn’t get any pictures, I can’t sum up how cool it was, you could definitely mix from it instead of a surface, the only issue would be speed, if you had to scroll to channel 60 quickly it would take a few seconds…

Sustainability people…sustainability!
2010/09/16 at 12:25 pm #26400BiggsoundsParticipantI second that, it’ll be a minimal cost, and if it lives up to the hype you’re effectively buying a control surface for $600 odd – that would have seemed like crazy talk a couple of years ago

The iLive app is only useful to people with an iLive system and an iPad. Thats not a very big market compared to just about every other app made and so to cover continued development costs A&H may make have to push the price a bit. I have a specialist lighting app for example (Luminair) that was around US$100 and that app could be useful to any lighting person(Not limited to one hardware product so a larger potential sales market). I guess it might come down to how it is seen as a marketing tool and given Yamaha’s announced “Stagemix” iPad app there is certainly competition out there.
Personally if it’s under $100 then great but I won’t be surprised if it’s over that. I’m holding off buying a tablet PC until there’s more detail on this app and what it can offer compared to a tablet PC with editor.Cheers

A&H T112 / IDR 482010/09/20 at 4:08 pm #26407AnonymousInactiveI’ve seen a beta version of the ipad app and must say I’m impressed! There is indeed a split screen, with 8 channels on top and 8 channels at the bottom. The top channels can also be replaced by a PEQ screen and such. This allows you to have the mixes at the bottom, hit ‘mix’ and use the top channels change the sends.
So far, it seems that the PEQ is implemented but not many other channel strip features. I hope this app will be released soon, as it is already really usable.
