Yea, you can record muted tracks. From what I remember, Qu-Drive just recorded all 16 inputs + LR mains, no configuration required. USB to a computer, you need to tell your software which tracks to record, but muting them won’t interrupt the audio stream.

Last time I used a Qu-16, the channel mute and mute group states were independent (1.9 firmware). The closest way to unmute just one channel would be turning on the mute group, then turning on the regular mute for each of those channels; turn off the mute group again and any channels you didn’t also mute independently will be unmuted. Bit of a hassle though.

I think when I was looking at the manual a few days ago I saw a line that mentioned short/long blinks of the mute button indicating if it was just muted from the mute group, or also muted independently.

Edit: On page 44 of the manual it says “A short flash shows it is muted by the group only. A long flash shows it is muted by its Mute key and a Mute or DCA group.”

There’s a limited amount of space set aside for storing the name in scene files. Just curious, but what’s the longest scene name you’ve seen at the local venue, and is your own unit also a Qu24 running the same firmware version?

Could you upload one of the scene files that doesn’t open on any desk (maybe a more recent one rather than older), along with a scene file created on the qu-16 after the factory reset?

I’m guessing no error messages appear?

It turns out the CRC is not one of the common algorithms (brute forcing with different initial values will not work).

Interesting to see that interpretation of it. I was getting at that trying random CRC algorithms found online is almost certainly not going to result in finding the right one.

Whereas it’s certain you won’t get it if you try nothing…

Never said I was doing nothing. 😉

Its unlikely you’ll get the CRC algorithm by just trying different things. The file format staying the same between versions and CRC covering all but the first/last four bytes seems to be correct from what I’ve seen.
