Custom control is a good option, but not complete as you currently can’t add certain features – you can make a decent panel for say IEM control but you can’t use it for eq and other processing features which is a bit limiting.
Having both an Avantis and SQ I can say I really prefer the SQ apps, they are just so much more practical and when you have novices using the desk they are also easier to pick up. To me device type isn’t so much of an issue – its the feature set that is disappointing.
That being said I see the apps as important, but not critical. So happy to work with what we have, but I would be ecstatic if they could be improved and made to work more like the SQ series.

2020/02/25 at 10:37 pm #89849Hi, is someone able to respond, we are in the process of setting up the desk and we have a number of users who are requesting easy access to the record feature.
2020/01/22 at 5:34 pm #88968Hi,
This issue is still going ahead, but we think that we may have found a cause. As part of our install we have some ME’s attached to it and it looks like the POE switch we have for it is causing the issue. Are there some settings that we would need to make sure is switched off on the switch?
2019/12/19 at 1:09 pm #88338Like star wars, the saga continues!
We ran our Carol services over the weekend and were able to do so with no major issues (we ran the gains on the trim as that mainly worked) – great feedback and a much improved sound quality over our previous X32 installation.
After the service we put in the 3rd GX4816 (the replacement for the initial faulty unit) so that we could send off the 2nd one that had been RMA’d as well. As of yesterday the 3rd GX4816 is now also losing preamp
(gain and phantom power) control. So to me that would suggest a faulty s-link port on the SQ5 as I can’t believe it’s an issue with 3 separate GX’s.The problem here is that we can’t send the SQ back until either our Avantis’s arrive or if a replacement SQ is sent first.
Also how many tracks can a SQ drive record at once, we tried 32 (routing via the io tab) but only 16 were captured using the usb port on the top – is this normal (the 32 are only available on the usb b out on the back of the desk) or an issue with the desk?
2019/12/11 at 2:56 pm #88205Hi,
Just to update we have done a hard reset and we still get random control of the GX preamps, so it looks like either a SQ fault or a bad batch of GX’s.
We have been in contact with AT about the 2nd GX but can’t send it back until the replacement for the 1st one has been received.
Is there a setting on the SQ where preamp control of the GX could have been disabled?
2019/12/11 at 1:43 pm #88202Hi, we have heard back from AT and they have said that it was due to a faulty comma board that the 1st GX failed and they are sending out a replacement – which is good.
Given that we are encountering similar issues with the 2nd GX my concern is what is causing the comms failure. Could it be a faulty batch (unlikely – I hope!), bad show file (I am going to hard reset the desk and rebuild from scratch as the initial show file was done on the PC app) or could the SQ it’s self have an issue on its S link port?
2019/12/08 at 9:49 am #88140Is there some sort of diagnostic tool we could use to find out what is going on?
2019/12/08 at 8:25 am #88138Hi,
We have started the RMA process for the first bix, but we are now starting to see similar issue with the 2nd and now we are very nervous. The new box now isn’t taking initial commands to turn phantom power on or off unless it is rebooted and randomly the gain control isn’t working again. Is there a number we can call for assistance?
2019/11/28 at 8:10 pm #87962It seems a bit silly not to have an app on a phone (whatever the OS). It instantly makes it less accessible for people and seeing as it is available on the SQ (the install we will have is an avantis as the main desk and a SQ as back up). I guess this suggests that the avantis is a dLive lite as opposed to a SQ pro.
2019/09/16 at 3:23 pm #86490+ 10000 from me!
I was at plasa in London yesterday and asked the A&H rep (not the audio technica, who are the uk distributors) why they have always refused to do this – I used to request this for ilive. His response was that it’s not a very requested feature – I couldn’t help my self and laughed in his face.
2019/07/16 at 8:20 am #85247Hi,
My understanding of routing to matrices is that you select the mix layer on the app and then highlight the matrix you want to route to. Then if you look to the right of the preamp section you should see a small grey arrow, press this and you will be taken to the routing page. Alternatively if you highlight any of the other outputs and press the same arrow you will see each matrix it can be routed to (you have the following controls pre/post, on/off and level)
2018/08/30 at 1:44 pm #78187To be fair that is an industry wide prolem. I have been looking at options for a church and its around £7k for a complete SQ system (inc personal monitoring and other items) or equivalent (Yamaha, Soundcraft, Behringer etc) and £17K for a complete dLive system or equivalent. No one out there is filling that gap.
2018/03/14 at 12:41 pm #69584Can you adjust the EQ graph via the touch screen on the desk now? The SQ I saw at BVE couldn’t do this and the rep on the audio technica stand said this would be addressed in the V1.2 firmware
2017/11/03 at 1:43 pm #66089Hi, Thanks for doing the Webinar – Do you know when you will be able to answer questions that you didn’t get time to address during the session? I asked a couple of questions that would be good to have answers to.
