Thanks Mike!
2017/11/08 at 11:47 pm #66207I for one would be VERY keen on “a faderless, rack version” of the SQ-5
Thanks Keith!2017/11/05 at 4:24 am #66118I think I saw somewhere to expect an update for Qu series this side of Christmas, here’s hoping.
2017/11/05 at 4:23 am #66117I’ve gone iPad-only for over a year now, wouldn’t go back.
Mostly do smaller events and small/medium venue bands.
Yes, I do like the tactile feedback of faders and knobs etc, but I have NO desire to go back to snakes, bulky consoles or being tied to one location most of the time.I use a mix of ME-1’s and iPhone Qu-You apps for performers to control their own mixes – most welcome it and adapt quickly. Those with stereo IEM’s love it, but usually I will help them with panning the different channels they want to hear.
For larger events, I have a monitor mixer on their own iPad on stage tweaking wedge EQ, watching for feedback (if any) and assisting performers set up their own monitor mixes.
The only thing I miss is being able to easily ‘solo’ a channel to troubleshoot any issues.
That said, I’ve recently got a nice little Bluetooth transmitter that I plug into the headphone out. Lag isn’t an issue for trouble shooting, so have a couple of bluetooth IEM’s to try out.
2017/11/03 at 3:05 am #66078Firstly for Ryan.
I rack mount my Qu-SB.
In the same SKB ‘shallow’ 4U rack case, I also have a Furman power conditioner, Wifi access point (Airport Express), optical out to a DAC feeding the Qu-SB St-1 input for AirPlay music streaming, a DMX ArtNet bridge and Chauvet 1-to-4 channel DMX splitter… thus I run both sound and lighting control over the same WiFi network from my iPad(s).
Love it!!!!!The reason a Sq-5-SB appeals greatly is that it looks like I could have two of them linked together, one as a stage box for the other, giving me the option of one larger rig or two smaller ones depending on event size etc.
Plus I could add a xx168 expansion module for a full 48 channels in should I need it. Oh yes, and I can add a Dante module for remote (wired) recording / playback. Sweeeeeet!!!!!
I’d also hope that the SQ range will include an offline Mac editor as do the other upper end consoles do. Perfect-a-mundo!!
My request for a Sq-SB?
Just take the rear of the Sq-5, keep it flat and not sloping, chop the excess height back to a clean 4U fit, and keep the depth close to the Qu-SB if at all possible.2017/09/24 at 9:59 am #65407Ditto
2017/09/19 at 7:49 am #65329Random thought:
If we can put a standard fast Ethernet switch between a Qu console and a stage box, can we do the same with the ME-1?
Could two x 0804 stage boxes be connected to a single Qu console?
What about an ME-1 and say an AR1608 off the same switch?
2017/07/04 at 8:17 am #64155That said, boosting the ‘scribble strips’ on the App from 6 to even 8 characters would make a HUGE difference on readability.
2017/06/21 at 5:31 am #63963A dSNAKE to Dante bridge appeals to me as well…
2017/06/21 at 5:29 am #63962As an alternative thought, I use an Apple Airport Express and run a TOSlink cable through to a small spare DAC I have.
Airplay is ALAC (Apple’s compressed lossless audio), which from my own listening experiences sounds better than Bluetooth audio. Of course everyone’s mileage varies.2017/05/17 at 8:52 am #63374Cheers guys.
Reading carefully though the user guides, it now looks like the ‘expansion’ bus and the ME-1 bus cannot co-exist.
The Qu-SB dSNAKE port is capable of doing either, which led me to assume i might be able to daisy chain an AR84 from an ME-1.2017/04/01 at 5:02 am #62482Thanks guys for all the help!!
2017/03/31 at 9:17 am #62477Thanks I’ll be sure to watch out for that
