I suppose it would be the same on the GLD

yes, but if you don’t want to use all 8 of them, you cannot free some additional resource to add more mix outputs.
But I think it’s a matter of DSP architecture too, so it’s just too “experimental” [;)]

Ah, another idea for the “routing” page: it would be great if there was some kind of graphics (colors or symbols) to indicate “TO” and “FROM” contributions; in time-critical situations it could save some headaches.

This was also more difficult than it could have been, since the LR and M outputs do not appear on the routing tab of the input channels, though everything else does – groups, auxes, etc. It would be great if this could be added here.

+100 for me too!!! It seems A&H staff just forget it ;)

Regarding the sub feeding,I use a more versatile solution to this situation (just tried yesterday):
instead of an “M” group to feed the sub, I simply use a postfader mono aux and put its channel strip just before the “mainLR” one.
In this way you can control not only the “on/off” presence, but the quantity too, as it’s a normal aux.

This might be a limitation if trying to use the mixer to its full capacity. Can this be changed?

    Thanks!

    +1 for me!
Another idea, more “experimental”: 8 effects are too many in most of “small to mid-size” situations; it would be great if in the resource page there was the ability to exchange an fx unit with 1 or 2 output mixes.
    Just dreaming? …

For me it’s more practical; create a 6 mic’s stereo group and called “choir” and then put reverb on it (not on the single channels).
I know I can insert the efx on the group, but why do I spend another efx, if my “vocal verb” is already present on the board?

Aux sends are effects sends, no? For example, I patch Aux 10 to the input of effects processor 1. To send channels to this effects processor, I send to Aux 10. I’m still waiting for my GLD, but this is how it works on every other mixer I’ve used.

No, it doesn’t work like this, I try to explain:
FX sends on GLD80 are not normal auxes, for istance you cannot patch one aux to the fx input, there is already a “fixed fx aux” that does it. The only problem is that, as I said in the upper post, you have no possibilities to send a group to an effect (yes, there is the “insert” but it’s not the same thing), because in its routing page there are all the auxes but not the fx sends.Pretty odd.

There were some teething issues with early Beta software.

Can you confirm what software version you’re both running, and if its not V1.00, then you need to do a firmware update.

If you still have issues, please contact A&H technical support.

with firmware 1.0 (non-beta), I have no problems with my fat32 8GB pen drive, both recording and playing files and I connect it everytime when GLD80 is up and running. Notice that you can use only one usb flash memory connected, as said here:

    Just found this on:

Will there be a PC / MAC Editor for GLD?
Posted by Mike Davey on 24 April 2012 08:54 AM
There are currently no plans to release editor software for GLD.

No plans? Why such a statement? How can I prepare my scenes the day before the show? :( (obviously I don’t sleep with GLD…)

    Please, consider this priority again!

before the ipad app, I would eagerly wait for a more conventional off-line/on-line PC editor. I couldn’t even think about a digital mixer without such software.
