I might have missunderstood the manual, so please help:
I am trying to add a stereo effect module to Stereo track 3, and then send any tracks to aux 3 so the signal would be processed. However, when i send two channels into Aux 3, I only hear one (left) channel comming out of the aux. I had stereo to two mono jacks cable patched into aux 3, connected to left/right of the effect module. Am I assuming aux 3 is stereo, while it is actually mono?

I realise now that auxes are mono. So if i want to send stereo info to the effect, I will need to use both aux 3 and 4, correct?

Yes the auxes are all mono balanced line, your “stereo” break put cable
was was only giving you the + and – of the balanced line output.

To send stereo into an FX unit you would need to use to post fade auxes.

With my analog boards I always sent mono to FX units but returned them
    in stereo to the board.
