SQ5 lagging faders

Hey there, I have some trouble with our SQ5 at school. It is used on a daily basis and sadly it´s poorly maintainted. Some faders are already lagging behind and it is very frustrating to work on shows with many inputs and therefore many layer switches. Do you have an idea how to fix this? I don´t want to damage the motors.
