We use Allen & Heath consoles in House of Worship projects frequently. And calling particular EQ presets for particular mic inputs from the automation system would be a great combination and strengthens our hand when designing a solution. Since müezzins and imams are like professional singers and different EQs are vital for different users.

When you are updating the SQ or QU mixers control API, I would appreciate if you take into account this concept and maybe you can enhance the protocol by adding the ability for recalling EQs from the library.

    Best,

Maybe you can store scenes with the correct EQ settings in the mixer and recall these from the automation system?
    It is chapter 3.1 in
    SQ-MIDI-Protocol-Issue5.pdf

Thank you for the suggestion Tom. But that recalls all the settings of the console which also affects the values on the inputs and sends. Limiting the scene to call Input Processing settings only may work, but this creates an extra job like saving all the library presets as a scene and filtering them. Thats why I think being able to recall the library presets directly would be a great enhancement.

You can already do this. Just make sure to either be in the EQ page you’re wanting to save, then hit the library button and save it. Or, have the channel processing page open and the channel you want selected, then hit the library key from there. Make sure to select the “User” section in the library. You can see what area of the library you’re in at the top of the page when the library button is pressed.

Thank you Ma, you are right; but what I am suggesting is, adding this feature to the Allen & Heath Midi Control API. So Input Channel Library presets can be recalled from a 3rd Party control system (Crestron, Extron,…) directly.

Depending on the number of microphones, distinct EQ settings and free processing channels you can take a different approach:
Split the microphone input socket to as many processing channels as you have different EQ settings.
That is, patch the input socket to multiple input channels.

Now, for each of the input channels load one of your EQ presets.
Duplicate everything else (preamp, processing except EQ, routing, sends).
From your external control system unmute the channel with the EQ setting you want, and mute all the others.

You can do that splitting even on Qu if your inputs come from dSnake.
Bonus: you can set meaningful channel names e.g. per vocalist.
