I have updated my GLD80 to firmware 1.40.
Now I have a noise on all channels that are linked on my AR2412.
When I unplug the cat5 cable, the noise is gone.

I contacted a collegue and he has the same problem (he also owns a GLD80 with AR2412).

I downgraded to 1.30 but the noise is still there.

    What’s the problem?

What does the noise sound like? What do you mean by “all channels that are linked on my AR2412”, all channels getting signal from those preamps, or channels which are ganged in some way?

It’s probably a clock sync problem, check that first in Setup > Audio > Audio Sync.

Edit: What about the output sockets on the 2412, any noise on those?

this is the screen when I check clock sync.

I hear noise on my headphone on the channels that are connected on my AR2412 en AR84.

On the home screen you there should be a listing of any audio racks you have connected, does the AR2412 have a green tick beside it?

Yes, AR2412 and AR84 have green tick beside it.

And there is no noise on channel 33 e.g. I don’t have expander connected.
(I have noise on channels 1 – 32 when audio racks are connected).

    (I’m a little desperate, tomorrow I have a concert….)

Is it a hissing sound, or clicks and pops?

If it’s hissing it might be that the preamp is turned all the way up, but that’s unlikely.

Is there any noise on the outputs of the 2412?

the noise is getting louder when i put the gain up, but “blockwise”, so: gain 10% up results in 30% more noise.

I will test the output tomorrow, but the noise is on the headphone main output.

I tried the output on my studio-monitors. There is a noise, but I don’t think it is too much to use.

I will give it a try tomorrow!

    Thanks Chris!
