Something that would be very useful for those of us who do live multitrack recordings as a secondary activity to the live mix in the room would be a metadata file recorded to the USB drive along with the multitrack recording. This metadata file would contain, perhaps in a CSV format, the track number and the channel (or bus) name, along with maybe the scene name and perhaps the ID of the pick-off point for the track. This wouldn’t be a replacement for taking separate notes alongside the recording, but would be a nice way to prevent too much guessing about what is what if said notes are never created (a distinct possibility with a small crew and a tight schedule) or get lost.
