Hi, I was wondering if I should be able to use an iPad with a firewire port to get multitrack playback to the CQ-20B (via a firewire to USB-B cable). I was able to get this working for a while, with a few connection issues though, but now it no longer works. Both the iPad and the mixer are at the latest OS/firmware.

    iPads have no Firewire ports.
Must be something different, a MacBook?

Sorry, I meant a lightning port.

Stage Traxx3 (ipad) can send multitrack audio to CQ12T.
    It should be OK.

That’s what I thought. I am using Stage Traxx 3 as well. Here’s a bit more details about the issue:

I purchased the CQ20-B a couple of months ago and was able to get the firewire-to-usb connection working most of the time (in multitrack mode @ 48kHz). The connection has however been a bit flaky lately (I sometimes needed to disconnect and reconnect the cable), but it is now completely broken. I tried several different iPads and none of them are able to see the mixer outputs. I also tried another brand new lightning to USB-B cable without success. If I connect another audio interface (a Yamaha EAD-10) to my iPad using the same cable, the iPad automatically sees it. The problem only seems to arise with the CQ-20B.

My iPad is running the latest iOS release 17.6.1 and my CQ-20B has the latest firmware (1.2.1).

*sorry, I wrote firewire again: I meant lightning.

I tested several other devices including a MacBook pro (using its USB-C port) and still couldn’t connect to the mixer. The issue is thus not related to my iPad’s lightning port. All the devices I tested could successfully connect to another USB audio interface (my Yamaha EAD-10).

I guess it points to a hardware failure specific to my mixer. I will try to reach Allen & Heath’s support to resolve this issue.

Stage Traxx 3, though it is not related to my problem. Apple Music cannot see the mixer either.

Do you have any non-Apple products to try with? There is a Windows USB driver for the CQ series consoles that needs to be installed before the computer will work correctly, but I would suggest that you try that before assuming it is a hardware issue.

CQ mixer should be recognized into stage traxx as soon as you hook up the Ipad, this is the normal behaviour.
Indeed, better reach A&H support for help.
