Is anybody using magnetic channel labels on their QU mixers? If so, do they stay in place well? My new QU-24 will be delivered in a few days and I don’t know if the console is made of metal or aluminum.

    Thanks.

    It is metal.
I use MixTagz, and they stay in place after moving.

You can buy magnetic strip in rolls in various colours. You then need to cut to length and mark up with a trusted Sharpie. Note that they come in several different heights so just get the right size to fit the mixer. Use alcohol to clean off the sharpie marks so the magnetic strip can be reused.

Can also be particularly useful if you need to change scenes during a gig as you can have several strips marked up in advance.

I made my own with the app for Mac called Pages.
If you have the “Pages” app for Mac computers, here is the template that you can have and modify to your liking.

    download the Pages template here:

The template also has an empty page for you to fill in your info as you please.

Once you have modified the template, export it to a PDF and transfer it to a USB jump drive and take it to a local printing store and have them print it on magnetic material. I take it to FedEx (what used to be Kinkos) and they charge 14 bucks if I recall, but it takes a couple of days. I then use a paper trimmer made by Fiskas like this…

I end up wasting a blade but it cuts nice. Blades are cheap.

I’ve got some warehouse shelving magnetic labels.

They are designed to hold a card insert – which is good, just a piece of card to replace between gigs.

Thanks for those templates dpdan. Will go that route when I get the time. It’s a slicker looking solution.
    Much appreciated!!
