New to the SQ series but familiar with other Digital desks. I need to understand the patching arrangements for channel direct outs.

I’d like to multitrack record from an existing SQ at a venue next weekend. Some channels come in over S-Link and others direct at the back of the mixer.

I’d like to multi track record a selection of those without disturbing the existing routing that the venue have set up.

Could someone kindly point me to a ‘getting started’ or offer some pointers. I have a copy of the venue’s configuration and the Mixpad app on my computer. I’d like to prepare an appropriate scene file beforehand so I don’t need to waste time pre-event getting this to work as I have very limited time pre-event to debug the configuration.

    Any pointers very gratefully received.

    Thanks

    Ken

Take a look at Tielines, is my best bet.

The only thing “shared” with the channels are the Head Amp Gain.

Thank you. I may have found it in the I/O mapping Input Direct outs to USB.

I see an advantage in using the direct outs for it, to show my channel names in the SQ Drive meters instead of only “Local x” or “SLink y”.
    But are there also disadvantages?

Direct Out Post Preamp is after the Digital Trim.
Tie Lines are before the Digital Trim.
Apart from that, there is no difference.

Quick update. My prepared scene file worked just fine and my 1st live event on an SQ went really well.

As point that might interest some. I tried out the Ardour DAW running on Linux to record from the USB port. It worked perfectly.

    Thanks 🙂 Ken
