    Hi there,

I’m new to this forum, so thanks for the global welcoming mood I’ve seen searching your previous posts.

I’m a radio producer and we’ve recently bought a SQ5 for our live sessions. So we’re using it for its primary purpose (live) but in studio conditions.

I’m a bit confused with the solos, and I’ve got two main issues which I suspect are, in fact, the same one.

    1) I’ve got my two piano tracks routed on a DCA, and when I come to solo one of the two tracks, the solo is actually routed on the main output.
    2) I need an alternative listening channel, to check how the mix sounds on the radio. So I’ve plugged my radio switchboard on the ST1 input which I can easily solo during the sessions to check the braodcast. But, even with my fader at the bottom, the solo is also routed to my main out.

I’ve checked on the manual, but failed to find something useful.

Sure it’s totally silly and I’m doing it wrong, but if someone got the solution.

    All best,

    E.H

That is not normal behavior. Something has to be routed incorrectly. I would start by checking the Main L/R output and make sure the PAFL buss hasn’t been inserted under the “Mix Ext In” source. I honestly don’t know if its possible to route the PAFL channel this way, but the Mix Ext In is a common place for people to accidentally add something to a mix that they didn’t intend on.

    Hi Brian,

Thanks for the answer. And nope. The only thing patched in Mix Ext In, are the Grp from 1 to 4 by stereo pair. I’ve fumbled a lot in the I/O menu during the installation so I don’t even remember if I patched it this or if it’s factory settings.

There really shouldn’t be anything patched in the “Mix Ext In” unless you have some really special situation that calls for it. Using “Mix Ext In” for regular “routing” of audio is not how the system is intended to work. I would start by removing anything being inserted this way from all your mixes, not just the Main LR.

Alright. I’ll begin with that, and tell you more once tested. Thanx

I’ve unchecked the assignations and make a try with my alternate monitoring channel, just as mentioned in my first post and it still goes to the main output. So I guess I’d have the same result with my channel solos.

    Hi,
what do you mean by “main out”? Is this the physical (xlr) output you’re using to send signal i.e. for broadcast? or is this “main bus”? Try checking the patch. If your “main out” is an xlr output for main signal to send/broadcast then check if you are sending the MainLR bus to these outputs or some kind of monitor bus like “Listen” or “PAFL”. For me it looks like your PAFL or Listen bus feeds your main signal physical output.
