Bought the WD 500gb, £40 – great value. Recorded last night and recording tonight, haven’t listened to them yet but fast to arm and format. Upgraded drive firmware too. Very neat little drive.

In addition to items mentioned above I’d suggest:
1: Double tap eq screen to zoom for finer control.
2: iPad and desk to mimic each other when a channel is selected. (Just to clarify – “mimic” channel selection. I was working on a channel on the iPad and came back to the desk to finish what I was doing but a different channel was selected on the desk. I was tweaking for a while before I realised I was on a different channel. Maybe just a noob mistake!!)
3: ability to control qu-drive from iPad. (Previously mentioned, apologies if so)

At the moment I’ll probably buy one from Thomann. I hate to go off brand but I was quoted £700 for an A&H snake:/
Thomann have cables for a tenth of that price. Cat5 is a standard, if they’ve qualified for the standard, would/could they sound any different? Maybe not as durable as a £700 item perhaps? Online reviews of the cheaper snakes seem very good too – I don’t want to cripple two great pieces of equipment with something substandard either:/
Back to the qu24 – it’s so damn compact, not much bigger than the Presonus 16.4.2 I used to have, not too heavy either!

Did my first gig with the qu24 and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Been playing with the desk for a few days in the kitchen to familiarize myself with it and I easily got the hang of it. It sounded great (IMHO) and the fx are sweet. There’s lots more to learn of course so thank goodness for this forum and all the useful stuff I’ve picked up already. Constructive criticism, would be good if the iPad app and desk mimicked each other when selecting input channels.
Just ordered an ar2412 to add to my debt & danger, I look forward to “one man” cable management!!!

Switch off “print scaling” in your print options. This is a 1:1 ratio print on A4 magnetic paper. Over and out!

Hey Dan,
My QU24 is scheduled for tomorrow but I’m keeping my DL as well. Channel naming is the only thing I will miss on the 24 but I’m hopeful it’ll be added – why shouldn’t it?
Unlike Mackie, A&H have hardware monitor controllers so I think multiple iPad or iPhone control might be a non starter:(
I have a file saved in Adobe Illustrator that I used for printing channel names onto magnetic paper which I’ll modify and upload when I get my 24. I used these on my Presonus desks and they looked nice and neat with no tape mess afterwards. I know it’s not ideal but I’ll use these and take a photo of the desk and name them like the scenes/shows.
I do have a usual setup numbering system I’ve been using for years so it’ll keep my mind active if nothing else!

That’s the two I had. The 16.4.2 would lose FireWire sync and go silent for a few seconds when recording to the laptop. It happened twice then never used it for recording again out at a gig. The qu drive is probably the deciding factor for the desk over the Soundcraft Expression, I never really considered a Behringer no matter how good it seems:/

My Presonus 16.4.2 had an unresolved problem where it would blow the trip in my garage and give random shocks when hooking up leads. It never did it out at a gig but I always kept a spare mixer handy! At the time it was £2k, look what that buys you nowadays!!
