    Just want to re-iterate that having an older QU-32 board running the newest firmware, I have NO ISSUES formatting or saving settings.

    My issues are:
    — the high rate of errors when recording onboard multi=track;
    — the invisible, undetectable 1-10 second audio drops when recording onboard stereo (until you manually listen to it, that is).

    This is USB 3.0 or 3.1, Transcend or otherwise (see previous post for exact details of hardware).

    I’ve been using various USB thumb drives on the A&H tested/compatible list for the last year.

    The model that was available for sale and that’s given the least problems is the Transcend JetFlash 810 USB 3.0 64 GB.

    Reading and formatting by the console work fine.
    But…

    It regularly errors when attempting to record multi-track.
    It shows no errors when recording in stereo, but is always found later to have dropped 5-10 second chunks of that recording at many points during a 30-45 minute sermon.

    This is mission critical.

    This should be basic functionality, and it shouldn’t read as error-free when it’s not.

    FYI, I’m following all the recommended procedures, including re-formatting before each use, keeping firmware up-to-date (1.93 build 4555)

    I ended up rebooting the desk and attempting it again with the Global Filter Output Patch blocked. Haven’t had any issues using the CL since.

    Thanks, Jeff. Up to +10db. That makes a lot of sense. I’ve used the shift+knob technique to re-level a lot of onstage mixes, but I’ll be a little more specific about optimum levels for our lead and other musicians.

    +1 for me. My worship leader’s vocal mic is doing this throughout the ME1 system. Definitely happens when he kicks his voice into high gear, as if it were clipping somewhere between my Qu-32 and the return back to the stage. As noted above, there is no evidence of clipping or of over-cranked gain on my console, so it’s hard to track down the parameters for this issue. Thought maybe it had something to do with gaining up the compressor and having the Global Direct Out for that signal set to post-comp, but I’ve had a hard time recreating it.

    It is a big problem, as he eventually just pulls his in-ears out in frustration.

    Would appreciate any insight on this…
