Our church uses some Avioms but we are going to replace them with ME units as they wear out or we expand. I have found it is possible to run both a 40 channel ME setup AND Avioms at the same time.
It seems the “Protocol” switch on the IO screen just tells the monitor port what to do but all 40 monitor channels are being echoed to all dSnake ports regardless of that setting. So in practice:
1. Set first 16 channels to whatever you want your Avioms to see
2. Set the remaining 24 channels to whatever else you want your ME units to see
3. Plug your Avioms into the 2412 monitor port
4. Plug your MEs into a free dSnake port
Your Avioms will work with the first 16 channels and you can group or assign channels for your MEs. Fantastic!
