    Hi, I have Qu 24 and Qu 16 desks and I am thinking of adding a SQ-5 to my inventory. My question is can a multitrack recording made on a Qu Drive be played back on a SQ Drive for the purpose of mixing down to stereo?. I’m guessing no due to the 96k / 48k clock issue and directory structure, but as you can use an AR2412 on the SQ I’m not sure. Does anybody have any experience?

    Hello Dave,

    I don’t have an SQ to test but I believe that it’s not possible.
    Also SQ has 16 tracks, while Qu has 18.

    Thanks Jake, I hadn’t realised that the SQ records 16 tracks, I had assumed it did 18 the same as the Qu.

    I think a flexible solution would be to use a cheap or free DAW to play back files from a computer (win or mac, no linux for now)
    here you have 32 channels
