Just got my first QU mixer (QU-16), and new to digital mixing. I want to connect Roland V drums to be played for live band shows. What is the best connection for this? The drums have 2 1/4” (L and R) sends and a midi out. It would be nice to put them on one fader but with stereo sound for simplicity (since I am soundman and bass player in the band).

Use one of the three stereo inputs (ST1, ST2, ST3) or you can link an odd and even pair of input channels for stereo input.

Thanks garyh. I will use ST1, but is there a way to bus that to the master fader channel, so I can control volume without having to switch to other layer. Or would I need to make a custom layer?

You would need to build a custom layer with the stereo channel in it.
Are you mixing with an iPad, the surface or both?
There are three custom layers available on the iPad app.

    I’ll be mixing with both
