After a day of troubleshooting this issue I have found the root cause (so far) to be the USB port used on the computer. I have raised a support request:

I have just tracked down an issue where the audio buzzes and drops out when the usb cable is connected to the onboard USB A ports on my Mac M2. When I use a USB 2.1 hub that connects to the Thunderbolt ports on my Mac I do not experience this issue.
Could you please advise as to if this is expected behaviour.
