I have a couple of customers getting into AHM wanting to send basic command strings using ESC/VP.net commands. We’ve already gone down a big rabbit hole and have discovered a couple of things:
– Initiating a TCP/IP connection with external devices often requires a security/password challenge
– With no way to interpret received TCP/IP commands on the AHM, this is impossible as security/password challenges are timing dependent.
The best solution we’ve come up with is to use a third party TCP to RS232 converter like:
Global Cache IP2SL iTach TCP/IP to Serial Network Adapter (RS232)
But, there’s no reason why the AHM shouldn’t be capable of this. Basically this is a feature request for:
– PJLink support; or
– Scriptable external control using Lua or equivalent
