I have an application where an iLive mixrack will be in a portable stage rack which could plug in multiple different wall plates. The mix position though is fixed, and the multiple ethernet ports need to all be able to send ACE back to the one mixrack.

It would be nice if this connection could be transparent to the end user. Would it work to run the incoming ports and the surface ACE port through a switch? There is only one mixrack so there would only ever be one mixrack and one surface attached at a time and never anything else.

Networking is not my forte, but from what I understand ACE uses Layer 2 TCP/IP protocols so a simple unmanaged switch should do the trick. Forgive me if I’m oversimplifying it. Thanks for the help.

Don’t see why not, I would be tempted to use a good quality Gigabit switch, I use 2 Level one gigabit switches on my iLive system as a fibre interface. They are well priced and seem reliable my other favourite would be a HP procurve, bit more expensive but very good.
I also use the same switch type for my Dante network, put one in each amp rack.
