Please add Trim to the Custom Rotary Functions. Or make a big change to his gain tracking works.

In a two surface setup where you’re sharing preamps with gain tracking enabled, it would be very beneficial to be able to have the Trim assignable to the Rotaries.

Even better would be to use surface roles to set which surface controls the gain.

The primary surface would control the gain. Any other surface would have Trim adjustments on the “Gain” button and rotaries. The primary surface trim would NOT adjust as the gain is adjusted, but the secondary surface trim would compensate. The primary surface would have trim available to use in the same way it’s available without gain tracking enabled.

This should be able to be changed by using your “Preamp on Surface” settings. Our MON engineer runs 90% of our inputs without preamp on surface and Trim is his default (with GC and GS on).

    +1
this could be very handy in a setup where gains are shared.
    Specially on a ‘C’-surface.
‘pre-amp on surface’ feels more like a work-around..

This is not usefully. At least the Surface I/O needs to be available for the surfaces.
Talk back and local I/O is better treated from the local engineer.

Since you can configure what console is doing what, you can set that by yourself already.
To use multi surface, it’s not a simple task, you need to prepare yourself and your system.

‘pre-amp on surface’ feels more like a work-around..

You need to understand what is happening with the global setting preamp on surface.
It’s not a workaround, it does already, what the topic starter suggested.

+1 for Trim on Custom Rotaries. Also, Compressor ratio would be nice too.
