Ethic, looking at the 1.8 firmware, they do now! i haven’t tried on the physical desk, but in director, moving the MCA (DCA) will move he associated faders in the mix send.

Lishinsky, having said that, for the main mix wouldn’t you set the individual faders in the comfort zone, then turn the DCA up/down as required? If the DCA was to move faders like the MCA does, wouldn’t this move the faders out of your comfort zone, thus achieving the opposite effect?

director works ok on a tablet. i have a fairly old windows 7 that i use for walkarounds; generally works well. the faders can be a bit touchy at times, and it is hard to dial in effects easily, but for general level and eq tweaks it works ok

i would second the ME-1 units. Another advantage is that the ME-1 will create a mix without using any of your available mix limit. if you are using the drive for FOH you could start running short if 24 channels are used for IEMs (assuming 12* stereo channels).

    Hi Ash,

i have’t found a way to access Dyn8 or any of the insert settings on the iPad. if you have access to a windows tablet, give director a go. it gives you the layout mirroring the desk. its not perfect on a tour screen, but it lets you go a bit deeper than the iPad app.

We are on 1.70. Not sure if it is a bug, I can think of lots of situations where keeping libraries with shows would be preferred. The libraries can still be saved to USB, just have to remember to before changing shows.

+1 here, we end up with quite large library lists, that require pretty tight naming to be able to find anything.

Shows do have the effect. one risk is that changing a show will also purge any new library settings you have made; so be sure to back them up if needed. we generally use a single show, but have a default scene with no recall filter applied. we do have a few channels set to global safe however (e.g. MC mic + main mix, so that scenes can be changed while someone is talking with no interference). seems to work for us.

    Hi Isaac,

the scene recall filters can be a bit touchy with some settings; i presume that they are using the Dyn8 multiband via a channel insert. Firstly check that for the scenes you are recalling the “Dyn8” safe is not blocked. also check that the “Insert Patchpay” found under “Other” is also not safed. The global safe on a channel doesn’t seem to play a role in the inserts coming in or not.

    hope that helps

Hi Bill, great to hear you are having success.

regarding the clicks, we were having the same issue. it turned out to be a dante clock issue. the solution in this post fixed our issue. https://community.allen-heath.com/forums/topic/dlive-dante-recording-noise

regarding the ME return signal, we run a similar system and just plug IEM transmitters straight into the ME output; we just keep the MEs off stage. if your MEs are onstage you already have at least a cat cable running to them, so an audio cable to get back to the transmitter shouldn’t be too much of a problem. i think in other posts A&H have made it pretty clear that the ME protocol is one way only, so probably not another solution for you sorry.

The new feature to add inputs into a matrix can be quite handy for this situation. saves having to make an aux or group just for a couple of channels

very good point, we are only using ME-1’s so i hadn’t thought of that

Agree. Another use would be to send some channels pre EQ; others Post compressor etc. We can always duplicate channels, but this is not the most convenient. a simple “override global IP Direct out” toggle on the overview processing page might be a good way to implement this?
