Hmmmm, how can you rack a QU-SD in a manner that allows permanent cabling to wireless mics, monitor amps, and mic cables. Sure, I could run cables in a blank rack space next to the mixer, but it kinda looks like this mixer is begging for rack rails that are placed toward the rear half of rack depth. Am I missing something?

I would think 7-8 would work just fine. You might have to play around with panning on a stereo mix, especially if you only have one cable coming from the 7-8 outputs. But, otherwise, those mixes 1-4,5/6, 7/8, 9/10 are identical.

I personally run the subs mono, even though I prefer stereo for mids and highs speakers.

    Alrod,

I’ve owned a pcm-90 in the past, and I have the qu-16 now. I’m curious about your using both together. Do you find the pcm-90 to have better basic effects than the qu, or do you want additional effects in your mix, more real time editing, or what?

On my qu-16, I use mix 4 as a dedicated aux fed sub mix. I send post fader. I only send kick, bass, a little keys, and mp3 player to this mix. The crossover and eq settings for the subs are set downstream in the digital processing of the power amp for the subs.

You could eq the dedicated mix on the mixer itself. But I don’t think there is anything approaching true crossover settings on the qu.

There may be other methods, but I like my results. You do sacrifice one possible monitor mix, but my band doesn’t need it.

I recorded 30 takes of stereo recordings without reformatting, using the stop button. The issue might be more complicated with 18 tracks per recording. I think I read somewhere that the concern was file fragmenting.

Guess that will teach me to actually look at the back of my mixer!

Really? Scroll down to special products. They sell both single and dual footswitch to midi converters where you can program what midi message is sent.

http://www.midisolutions.com seems to have both single and dual foot switch programable controllers, but they are $129+.

Amazon reviews of the Trendnet keep referring to a noisy fan. How is this fan in a gigging situation?

    James,

Can you describe the adhesive transparent backing produce and process that you have used?

Since I don’t really feel like learning AI right now, can you tell me how to alter the background color, e.g., turn a gray to red?

I can edit with a trial version of AI. How do you cut the magnetic paper? Does the paper work well in Officejet printer?

I just got my qu-16. You mention hand-held RTA. What do you think of using the included RTA on the qu-16? I have a DBX condenser test mic and could sample pink noise in various portions of a room.

In general, I absolutely agree with you, DMAudio.

This particular use, however, is an initial setup of some well-known monitor speakers, where a highly-respected soundman has advocated alternative tunings that many users find better than the manufacturer’s tunings, again for the initial flat setting, presumably outdoors. No doubt individual rooms will require further refinement.

Before the Qu-16 (Mixwiz), I’ve never had access to ANY eq for monitors and have just gone output to amp to monitor. So now I have access to way more tools to experiment with and learn. Heck, I can always turn the PEQ off and be back exactly where I was.

Today I learned about bandwidth vs. Q. Nice!
